      <description><![CDATA[<p>Hi all,</p>

<p>I&#39;m doing some asset recovery work across multiple programs and in the process, assets end up in D|S with some textures in non-standard (ie /runtime/textures/) libraries.&nbsp; I manually copy the textures into /runtime/textures/ and then work through the surfaces tab to re-assign the maps (typically diffuse and bump/displacement) to their new, more orthodox home.&nbsp; But sometimes, I don&#39;t get it all right and on the next load of the scene I get the missing files messages.</p>

<p>All that is good as, if they are the textures I wanted, I can located them, save and all is fixed.</p>

<p>But if for some reason, I no longer want to use a missing texture (in fact was not expecting it to be needed), and if I skip locating it, I&#39;m not aware of any way to easily locate which object had the redundant texture (ie other than by trawling through all the surfaces of all the objects).&nbsp; Is there any way to quickly find which objects use a particular texture map if you know the map name?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I have been searching for how to change a texture in Daz Studio 4.10.&nbsp; The tutorials I am finding show a tab on the upper left hand side that I don&#39;t have.&nbsp; Actors, wardrobe, and props editor tap in the video I found.&nbsp; I am guessing that this tap is something that has been changed in 4.10</p>

<p>I have been poking around with the surfaces tap on the lower right hand side.&nbsp; I clicked on the jpg for image type in the Shader baker, but browsing in my files won&#39;t show any jpgs. The texture that I made and want to use is in jpg form.&nbsp;Load on the bottom in the Shader baker is looking for a DSX file, but what I have for a texture map is a jpg.</p>

<p>Tools - surface selection doesn&#39;t seem to help for a texture jpg that I made.</p>

<p>Can anyone offer a link for a tutorial on how to change a texture in Daz Studio 4.10?&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Trying to make a hoody type of clothing piece,.</p>

<p>have been shaping the hole for the head through a basic box shape, to get a starting point of a &quot;poncho&quot; type of fit. Take it into DAZ, add dForce run a simulation, everything is fine. Wash rince repeat while I start sculpting the basic box in Hex.</p>

<p>I am basically working on the box in a .1 thickness, saving as OBJ, import into DAZ, apply dForce, and simulate to see how it falls and fits.</p>

<p>This is working great, no issues.. then I say, okay I need more Polys here so it folds better. In Hex I use the Tesselate to split existing planes. Export to OBJ, pull it back into Daz add the dForce, simulate and BOOM.....</p>

<p>At exactly 3% of the simulation the &quot;Poncho&quot; dissapears, geometry is gone, NOTHING i have done will bring the geometry back, if I try to render I get a blank scene, even G8F doesn&#39;t render.</p>

<p>The &quot;Poncho&quot; and G8F are in the scene still, if I clear the simulation, the Poncho pops right back to where it started at import point, and I can add materials, move it around whatever, try to run simulation, BOOM, gone again...</p>

<p>Image 1 is what it looks like at import into DAZ, 2 is what it looks like in Hex.</p>

<p>To add to this, i am NOT making any changes to the Poncho object when I import it into Daz. I am 100% using the default dForce settings. The idea being that the poncho fits on the default G8F, using the default dForce, and&nbsp; then can be added to from there.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I had several surfaces selected and decided to view the Geometry Editor to see what it offers. I accidentally &quot;locked&quot; the selected surfaces. I can look at these surfaces in the scene and viewport, but cannot pick them using the Surface Selection Tool.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Any help is much appreciated! I&#39;ve spent a couple of hours into trying to figure out how to undo this. Slightly frustrated. :)</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I recently had a need for a &quot;cat tree&quot; in a render I was working on. As most of you probably know those are typically covered in some sort of carpet. While I had a commercial carpet shader that worked, I was thinking about packaging up a couple of freebie models. For those I wouldn&#39;t want to use someone else&#39;s work and so would need some way to create a custom shader that I could distribute. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to build such a shader that I could distribute for free?</p>

CPU: Intel Core i7 860<br />
RAM: 8 GB<br />
HD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250 GB<br />
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 with 4 GB</p>

<p>Daz Studio:<br />
4.9.2.70 Pro (64 bit)</p>

<p>Is there a way to speed up Daz Studio while &quot;preparing scene&quot;?<br />
This step takes place both when starting a render with Iray as Render Engine and when switching the viewport render from Texture Shaded to Iray.</p>

<p>During this step (that usually takes some minutes - depending on the complexity of the scene):</p>

<p>1) Daz Studio CPU usage is very LOW (about 13%) and the whole CPU usage is about 25%<br />
2) All GPU parameters (monitored through GPU-Z) are very very low (about 5%)...<br />
3) Task Manager only shows that Daz Studio VERY VERY SLOWLY consumes a lot of RAM (without using Disk Virtual Memory)<br />
4) Daz Studio Log says nothing</p>

<p>Then, suddenly, all GPU parameters go up (GPU Load 95/98%, Memory Used, Memory Controller Load, etc) and the iray render in the viewport (or the iray render in a new window) immediately begins...</p>

<p>I suppose that during this step all the scene is transformed by Daz Studio in a way that Iray can &quot;understand&quot; and then copied to the GPU Memory.<br />
And actually Memory Used in the GPU suddenly grows up when preparing scene is finished</p>

<p>But why is the Preparing Scene STEP so SLOW?<br />
What is Daz Studio doing during this STEP?<br />
Why isn&#39;t Daz Studio using all the CPU Power (or the GPU Power)?</p>

<p>I know the smooth modifier. It&#39;s ok for&nbsp; prevent a clothe from nesting with G8.</p>

<p>But if I have more than one cloth and one of each have collision with G8 AND the second cloth : how to prevent clothes from nesting together ?</p>

<p>Is there a parameter on simulation ?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Not sure if this turns out to be a newbie question or a feature sugggestion:</p>

<p>I&#39;m currently trying to wrap my head around the &quot;Lens Stereo Offset&quot; in the Camera&#39;s lens settings.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is a very useful and welcome feature, as is allows to render output directly without any post-editing - but it comes with a downside: For this parameter to work i understand that it is crucial to&nbsp;set the &quot;Focal Distance&quot; correctly to achieve correct convergence. I haven&#39;t found an option to bind the focal plane to an node, so i&nbsp;have to set the focal plane manually after each camera or subject change.</p>

<p>So what i&#39;m trying to mimic is the same as the autofocus on a physical camera.</p>

<p>Did i miss this option somewhere? If not, is there a workaround or would it even be a feature to consider for an upcoming version of DAZ Studio?</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I tried several times to submit a support ticket and I keep getting an error &quot;403 Forbidden - Cloudflare&quot;</p>

<p>And YES I am logged in.</p>

<p>Also your &quot;Contact Us&quot; button claims I can submit a help ticket or call. YET NO PHONE number is listed.</p>

<p>This is pretty frustrating as I am contacting to know WHY I was charged twice for my Premium Club membership Once yesterday and again today. I am now extended to Feb 08/2022!!!</p>

<p>Since I was already prepaid until 02/08/2020 I should not have been extended ONCE let alone TWICE.</p>

<p>I tried to submit a ticket several times and keep getting the above error. I&#39;ve used it many times in the past.</p>

<p>Not too impressed with your help system. I understand there can be technical issues but not lhaving a phone number listed when you are indicating we can contact you via a phone is inexcusable.</p>

<p>It is a winning move to go&nbsp;now to beta version 4,11?&nbsp; which would be my principal avantages?</p>

<p>Yes i have read the principal discussions about the beta&nbsp; and remember how many bugs exist and some have been corrected</p>

&nbsp; About a week ago i got a problem in DAZ Studio 4.10, where the texture wouldn&#39;t display properly in the viewport. The only way i could fix it was by uninstalling daz, and deleting everything relating to it, including registry entries.</p>

<p>&nbsp;However, a week later and it&#39;s happened again.&nbsp; I don&#39;t want to go through the whole process again and whilst it&#39;s possible to work around it, it takes so much longer to get things done.... and here&#39;s why....</p>

<p>As you can see, the eye&#39;s don&#39;t display properly, and neither do the lips... other things include nipples and gen detail.</p>

<p>I even installed the 4.11 Beta to see if it did the same in that and it has as you can see.</p>

<p>Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>How would I do this successfully? I tried saving the shape from Genesis and applying it to Genesis8 but it looks NOTHING like the original.</p>

I am quite a novice in modeling and I am facing now a little problem with a pair of earrings I created in Hexagon. I try to explain it step by step.</p>

<p>1. I modeled a very simple pair of earrings in Hexagon<br />
2. I exported it as an OBJ file<br />
3. Now I imported the earrings OBJ file ( In Daz3D I had the identical character as in Hexagon for modeling)<br />
4. The earrings appeared in the Viewport, where I expected them (at the ears)<br />
5. I started the Transfer Utility and set the parameters as displayed in the picture below.<br />

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I can minimize Daz Studio using the standard icon on the top right.</p>

<p>But It will not minimize using ALT-TAB or the taskbar ribbons.</p>

<p>As when loading or rendering the top right icon is locked out it means while rendering or loading the computer is unusable till it is done.</p>

<p>This maybe be linked to the latest windows 10 security update?</p>

<p>As I noticed the problem around then,</p>

<p>I have tried most other programs on my PC and all the rest seem to minimize perfectly.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Well, I finally decided to update to D|S4.10 so I can try out dForce. I won&#39;t be able to run it properly until I get an upgraded computer with a nice hefty NVidia card, hopefully later this year, but running on CPU should let me see what it&#39;s like.</p>

<p>Just one issue &mdash; I have an old Intel Core i5 cpu, and right now it doesn&#39;t have the OpenCL 1.2 drivers needed for dForce. I&#39;ve looked at the &quot;dForce start here&quot; thread, but I can&#39;t figure out which driver installer I need. Suggestions, anyone? Running Windows 7 with a freshly installed D|S4.10.0.123 and the CMS did (eventually...) install properly.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>When I was comparing my current 980 with the 1070/1080s, I saw two different descriptions for width: dual width for the 980 and dual slot for the 10x0 cards. Looking at the images of the 1070 on amazon, it looks like it only plugs into one of the slots, so I assume that the only difference is that back facing panel that has HDMI/whatever output? Of course, looking at images for the 980, there are 2 wide external slots, but whether they actually provide output depends on the card itself...</p>

<p>Looking at the differences in computation, the 10x0 appear to offer more RAM along with modest improvement in performance. I don&#39;t think I can go any newer than these, though, without splurging on an new case with new power supply, etc. Is it best just to sit on my current 980 until I have saved up enough for the whole shebang or would the performance be worth putting the whole new computer off for another many months (i.e. I won&#39;t be able to afford the new computer til end of year as it is, but if I get the new card, new computer will probably be next year)</p>

      <description><![CDATA[I'm finding there are some conflictions with the mdd importer exporter. I've been doing tutorials in AniMate2 mastery. And from what I understand is when you export, you export a sequences of obj's. No bone systems, and that's why the file system is so small. But when I go to YouTube and view a tutorial on it. They showed a bone system. Can it be exported both ways?]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m horrible at lighting so I recently tried picking up some light sets from the Daz3d store to try and make it easier on me.&nbsp; The viewport before rendering look great, but when I try and render them they&#39;re so washed out that everything just appears hot white.&nbsp; It&#39;s not one specific light set, it&#39;s multiple ones from different vendors so the problem must lie with me.&nbsp; I just started using Daz3d from Poser so I have no idea what the issue is.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#39;ve left render settings default and literally I load one prop and the light set and it gets severely washed out.&nbsp; I&#39;m using Nvidia IRAY with an RTX 2080 if that makes a difference.&nbsp; Does anyone have any hints?</p>
