Today’s Complaint: It has turned cold enough that I had to turn on the heat. Second one: I can not think of any good stick to your ribs cold weather food to make for dinner. Chili would be great but I can not have the beans (renal diet) and I do not want a bowl of chili flavored meat. Sigh…

If it’s got beans, it’s not chili here in Texas.

Ah yes, pork and beans, I heard you Texans are fond of your beans lol

By the looks of this thread, it’s gonna be a cooking show

What kinda pie is it? I may want a piece before you throw it.

I don’t know about the pie about to come my way, but the pie I made…

BACON-PUMPKIN-CHEESE-TOMATO PIE! x 2

What went to them:
Bacon, lots of it, lightly toasted and chopped (I think about 600 grams or 1 1/2 pounds)
2 cups of grated pumpkin
1 1/2 cup of Grated Swiss cheese
Dozen+ cherry tomatoes, chopped
2 single-clove garlic, chopped
Onion, chopped—except the first pie had none, as my friend does not like onions, so I added onion only as I was about to stuff the second pie
A cup of sour cream/creme fraiche
3 eggs
A pinch of salt, a sprinkle of sugar
Some tumeric, paprika for cheery pumpkin color
And some premade, frozen savoury pie dough I pressed into the baking tins.

The above is for two pies.

And it is so much NOM NOM NOM that you wouldn’t BELIEVE.

That sounds really good. I’ll have to give it a try sometime. I once made a pumpkin mead that I think would go well with it.

In regards to food, I think Skiriki has just found her soul mate.

LOL I’ll provide a bow, in case we need to hunt for the meat in our pies LOL

It is pretty astonishing how many good friends I’ve gotten because of fooooood!

You already had me long before the food. But the food is a bonus. It’s nice to try some Finland pie!

Ah, pumpkins aren’t particularly Finnish, though. But you can replace them and tomatoes with white cabbage and long-grained rice for more authentic feel. Whole-grain crushed barley or rye instead of rice, if you’re adventurous and want even more authentic feel.

Morning. 0145 Tuesday here, raining in a kind of ghostly way under bright moonlight splashing across empty city streets and gleaming on wet tram tracks.  20 hour day just finished, So tired could barely mumble address at the cabby. At least it is warm. Took ages to find the thread. Oh, home nao ! L8R
