Thanks to Zaarin’s Kid Render Thread, I’ve been put in the mood to dabble with youths (that came out dangerously wrong grrr)! So, probably much to Marcus’s delight, here’s MY version of Luke 5, derived from my D5, much like how MallenLane derived Laura & Luke 3 from the original David. Well done RC, Spyro Kid got a friend LOL. He definitely has the essence of Luke from gen 3… But at the same time is more realistic. Nice work cheese Also, I have a tip that you might like to know in regards to lighting/shadows… Go into the Lighting and cameras section, select the light/s, in shadows set it to raytrace and set the blur to around 6%... What it does is makes the shadow naturally blur and fade as it gets further away from the object/person causing it like it does in the real world. smile Very effective. I do it all the time with distant lights.

Spyro, I hope this is a new username and not a case of identity theft! wink

Loving all these new characters! cheese RCDeschene, you’ve done a great job on your revised versions… And I agree, the new lighting scheme works well.

Posting my old A5 and H5 designs from the forumarchive. Is there a reason why I’m reposting these at this particular time? Maayybee…... wink

Formula and more renders to follow, but here’s a sneak peek at my latest Aiko (let’s call her Aiko 5.2).

Update: Okay, this is weird… At some point in the process, a bunch of morphs that are supposed to be part of her formula got zeroed out. They are still showing up under “Currently Used,” but at a strength of 0.00. So the character shown here is NOT my Aiko 5.2. But she’s cute anyway, I guess. The formula for this non-Aiko 5.2 character is:

Basic formula
Taiga 0.2
Aiko 3 0.4
Basic Child* 0.04
Head Propigating Scale 0.8
Naoki Head 50%

DieTrying morphs:
BreastDiameter -0.1
Eye shape 2 0.4
Eyes round -0.5
Hooded Eye 1.0
Chin Short 0.1
Face oval 0.1
Lower Head Small 0.1
Glute crease 0.3
Glute smaller 0.3

Evolutions morphs:
Eye Iris Size 0.12
Eyelashes Hide Layer* 0.2
Pupil Dialate 0.12
Breasts Heavy* 0.08
Navel 1.0
Navel Depth 0.2
Navel Vertical 1.0

Genesis Head Morph Resource Kit 3 morphs:
EyesLarge2 0.5
EyesShape6 0.2
EyesShape9 1.0
FaceDown 0.2
HighCheekbones 0.3
LowerEyelidsFlat 0.2
LowerFaceIn 0.1
LowerLidShape 0.4
NoseRidgeProportion 0.4
UpperCheeksOut 0.1
UpperLipAreaIn 0.2

*These morphs were automatically applied when the Taiga shape was dialed up.

Okay, how does this look? I’m really happy with the face. No matter what I tried to do, she always looks much older in the scene view than the actual final render…

I’ve never cared for the Basic Child skin, but otherwise I really like your Laura. Nice work.

What do you use for backgrounds? Do you make them yourself, or are they for sale somewhere?

What a cute character. I want to take her home and put her up on my shelf… or something :D She is certainly one of those happy mistakes.

...Okay, here’s my real new Aiko. Inspired by Hitomi and by the classic Aiko3 characters by Thorne and Sarsa…tried to steer a middle ground between these two styles. Also inspired by iconic manga/anime-style characters by artists like Hayao Miyazaki, Rumiko Takahashi, Izumi Matsumoto, and Clamp.

I’ve never cared for the Basic Child skin, but otherwise I really like your Laura. Nice work.

What do you use for backgrounds? Do you make them yourself, or are they for sale somewhere?

Trust me, I tried using some of the V4/A4 skins I have and she looked way too mature for a young teen, almost as if an actress in her early 20’s was trying to portray her. As I said before, I think she looks too old in my final render, hence why I felt obligated to screen the actual scene itself. I’m rather tempted to do so with my Luke as well. (Only goes to show how badly we need D5 and actual Teen morphs!)

EDIT: I went ahead and did so anyway. I revised him a bit as well.

As for my backgrounds, well, as you can see from my D5 revision and both L&L5; renders, I use the same backdrop just shopped a different color. Either way, I find all of my images on Google. smile

Fantastic work Scott with Aiko5.2!! I do imagine Aiko with that appearance! Well done!! I’m particularly fond of your blue cloud render cheese

RC, I’m lovin your lighting improvements!! I think some of your problems with the youthful face may be influenced by the hairstyle. I had so many problems with hairstyles I really liked, cos they made my characters appear older. But I love her body shape, true to the childhood figure, well done!

EDIT: Referring to your Laura 5

But I honestly thought that hair like Hampton and Taylor were perfect for teenagers. I just didn’t want the usual Duke and Sally Mae hairs.
