I had a HD crash back a few months ago. which forced me to have to re install all my content. But I had everything I created back up on a another drive. So Spryo if you back up your folders with the content you want to keep you should be alright when you do a clean install. when i did the install i made 3 runtime content folders.
One just for characters and clothing & hair. . One just for environments & VFX tools., and one for everything else i could not categorize.. like trucks ,cars boats and airplanes, buildings Etc..
the lights and camera’ and shader’s create their own folders so i didn’t have make any for those. it really has helped doing it that way to find content easier,
With all my custom characters I’ve made, and Garibaldi hairstyles, I’ve been too scared to fresh install.
