I had 4.0 and upgraded to 4.5 a few days ago.  I was going to purchase the GenX plugin for 4.0 and use it until the upgrade to 4.5 was available.  I want to create characters in 4.0, save them and then open them in 4.5.  My question is can I install 4.5 on my external hard drive while keeping 4.0 on my laptop and use both?

Gen X for 4.5 is out right now. No need to wait.

No, the only way to have both versions on the same PC is by having a dual boot to another operating system too.
