Beginner help - where is Hexagon manual and what are R, B, G arrow things called?

I can't find the Hexagon documentation. Also what is the floating red, blue and green arrow tool thing called, that indicates the x-y-z directions of a selected object? I can use them to change a cube into a brick shape, say (I'm trying to draw a road through the desert, that I can import into the Dreamlight canyon) but they seem to come and go and I don't know how to restore them, after they disappear.

The Hexagon manual is in the Docs folder in your install. Hit the spacebar to add or remove the axis indicators.
