Are there some general settings that allow the teeth to render a natural color? Mine is coming out quite dark.

Which figure are you using, and can you post an image?  Teeth have a habit of being too white in my experience.

You can select the Teeth in the Surfaces tab and adjust the various elements of the texture, but a bit more info would be helpful.

I find that shadows from the mouth can quite often darken up the teeth as well I sometimes stick a point light near them at around 2 or 3% intensity just enough to lighten the teeth but not to much to make them glow.
