Eyes are extremely tricky hon.  I’ve done as much as I can with them.  The eyelashes, size of the eyes and all that… one false move and you end up with a mess to deal with.  One of these days I’ll get better at eyes.  I’m an ass and eyes man myself (and of course FUR) !  raspberry

Decided to keep going with the Space Being.  I redid the texture a bit and redid the whole thing in ZBrush.  It’s actually not very hard when you get a good work flow going.  I can’t thank fivecat enough for the great walk through he/she gave me.

So here is Space Being…. I’ve created bump/disp and specular maps too so it’s really turned into it’s own project.  FUN FUN FUN!  Gotta get the eye textures revamped in Photoshop though.  probably will do the typical black sclera and then make a dynamic blue for the Iris.

I’m planning on doing that, of course.  It’s always been my wish for Bruno for Genesis to be enjoyed by all, not just DAZ Studio users but I’m very bad with Poser mats so if DSON can make comparable mats for Poser users then I’m totally game.  I’ve been told the morphs will all work in Poser via just loading up Genesis so that’s at least covered.

Little update…

Got all the Bruno for Genesis DSON files completed last night (still need more skin tweaking but it won’t affect how the files load, those are direct updates to the textures).  Got 13 Iris colors done as well.  All of them got remade again.  Originally it was 8 colors but decided on some additions.  cool smirk

I wish I could say that.  The reason I’m getting all these little bits out of the way now for the fun part…. the skin ... skin is the bane of my existence until I really learn a good work flow.  Got doing skin in ZBrush figured out so perhaps I can get the seam issues figured out as well as more detail to the base skin, which is what I really want!  ...

Finally got the Space Being done. Skin redone in ZBrush using the SpotLight tool. Morphed body & head shape done by me in ZBrush too. Antennae my creation as well.

Let me tell you folks.  When you finally ‘Get’ something it’s wondrous.  Worked this whole weekend learning texturing in ZBrush.  There is this little tool that comes along with the Lightbox called SpotLight and it’s the dream tool for getting textures done just right.  The trick is making sure your model, Genesis in my case, is sub divided up enough so that the textures look really clean.  The other methods in ZB are just as good but ALLOT more fidgety and quite frankly I don’t like processes that are too fidgety!

First image was my first “YAY” and the second is the “Space Being” finally looking the way I wanted it to look.

Here is a YouTube vid explaining how to use the SpotLight tool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=062jPkInTEk

Got the Poser eye settings figured out.  Let me tell ya folks, while I’m indeed impressed with all the work that went into the DSON some of what’s translated over from DAZ Studio to Poser does NOT do too well.  The eye surfaces are the worst.  So looks like I’m going to have to supply fixes for all 13 eye colors so they render well.  Also found the bump and displacement is coming over too strong too.

Here is the link to the post in the Commons showing my Bruno in Poser and the eyes that I got fixed up this AM… looks very good in my opinion.

Poser and DS do bump/displacement in different ways.  That’s why going the other way (Poser to DS they settings are too weak.

It just means it’s expensive.
