Struggling with 3 Genesis files - would it be possible to put them all into one or would that make it difficult for DS to find them, because I then want to add quite a lot of Victoria 4 meaning perhaps a total of 7/8 files ? Then there’s several other content items I’d like to add after that. The problem is it makes the list or tree in the scene’s Content folder incredibly long and therefore hard to remember what and where the many sub-folders are inside them all.
Still it’s great to be under way again….
When you say “files” if you’re talking about “products” then you’d better be prepared for a lot more than a few products. Most people have at least several hundred but more like thousands of products. The list for a large content library gets very very long unless you organize things.
Some people have more than one runtime (you can add multiple My Library folders in Studio) - one for Genesis, one for V4, one for V3, one for animals, one for clothes etc. Some people have only one runtime with everything and use categories to organize the trees (this is how I do it).
Generally you will save time if you don’t try to manually reorganize all the files and folders. Just install things to the default location (or use multiple runtimes if you prefer). Let the software do the work for you - use categories and Smart Content (metadata). That’s what its there for!
