it’s my first time using daz studio. i like this software a lot. but getting confused of character, because there a lot of different character.
No problem! I was there in February this year when I started. Genesis anything + <character name> 5 = compatible with each other, UNLESS the shapes are REALLY extreme (and even then may work with some adjustments). This is a quick-and-dirty rule of thumb; the more in-depth explanation is complicated.
The old system where each figure was its own unique shape (such as Michael 1 to 4, and Victoria 1 to 4), or a modification to existing base shape (like David was to Michael and Stephanie was to Victoria), is… well, it is oldtech for DAZ Studio. Sure, people still use it and swear by it, and if they enjoy it, more power to them. I just like the extreme versatility of Genesis (check my DeviantArt page for examples; all humanoid figures, including werewolves, are based on Genesis) and ability to share parts and clothes reasonably hassle-free.
I recommend to get the V4 and M4 shapes for Genesis (from DAZ Store), if you don’t have them already, along with Generation 3 and 4 and Evolution bundles. This will give you LOTS of tools to use. No need to buy ‘em all at once, but V4/M4 shapes will make your life more pleasant.
but i’m looking forward to studying it.
i’m sorry if my english not good..
No problem, I understood you just fine.
Wilmap’s freebies are good for practising (since they come with zero pricetag) in getting your figures dressed up.
You will find more help from the new users section, and of course from Nuts’n'Bolts and The Commons.
Happy rendering times!
