I’d rather have a blue sky above me than a blue screen in front of me.

...another LeelaTeen pic after doing a bit more work.

Done in pro 4.5.1.6 with the Teens IBL lights.  First time I tried a raytraced render on my 32 bit notebook in along time.  Seems the new 3Delight works a lot better, even on an older system.

Yes, the Teens were well worth the wait.  This is my little Leela.

Yeah, 3Delight has had a lot of improvements to the raytracer the past few updates…it’s one of the cornerstone improvements in the 10.x series.

Just because something costs a lot, doesn’t mean it’s the best…

It just means it’s expensive.

...well, scratch my last comment about 3Delight being more efficient.

Got home and did a couple minor adjustments on the teeth maps to get them to show up in the render, no changes to the lights or anything else, and all of a sudden it’s “crash city”.

The really stupid thing was when I did the first render this afternoon I was online at the same time and it completed fine.

This evening, I not only was offline, but pared back as many other processes as I could, and every time the render got to about 98 to 99% complete, it crashed to the desktop.

I cannot believe simply adjusting the specular and ambient colour would cause this.

Have you tried a restart?  I know that on my PC - which is around 6 years old now - that once Daz starts crashing on a scene that I know will render, a restart usually puts it right.

...that is what makes this all the more stupid.  I did these tests when I got home and turned the notebook back on after I shut it down before leaving the cafe.

The other idiotic part of this is the light presets I used are specifically made for scenes with the Teen5 characters. Therefore all surface settings should have been taken into account.  Young teens are very expressive, they smile, giggle, and laugh, they give that big cheesy “cat that got away with the cream/who me?” type of grin.  That means they (as I put in on another thread) should not look like geriatrics who forgot to put their dentures in when they got up in the morning.

I really hate crap like this. Works fine once, then doesn’t the next time.  This is the kind of thing that is so bloody frustrating.

very frustrating.  Hope that you can get it sorted soon.  Things like that drive me batty.

I like Bryce, DazStudio, Poser and Vue ... in alphabetical order. And I would probably like Carrara too, if I could find the time to become acquainted with it. Peace?

On topmenu, in ‘Help’, then down to ‘Troubleshooting’.

Or ‘C:\Users\YourUSerName\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4’

EDIT:  Never mind for now, sorry.  Just pulled the day-early January coupon out of my spam box.  Stupid AOL…I still want to see end dates on products, though.

This is Jessi, an older teen. I just got Jesse and don’t own Deborah (yet?), so I wanted to see if Jesse’s skin would work on a female character. The results are pretty good, I guess, if you don’t mind your teen girl having no makeup and slightly bushy brows.

I used Julie and Stephanie 5, both at 0.5 strength, plus 50% of Jesse’s head morph, 25% of Andrea’s, Julie’s breast shapes 1 and 3, and a number of mostly minor tweaks. The lighting is Andrea’s preset, which so far I think is excellent.
