Wonderful contributions.  Literally, they are full of wonder. Great job participants, and thanks to Daz, Philemo, and Howie Farkes.

My votes are

#2 EvilProducer, City of Zed

#6 Dudu, Woodstock

#7 Dudu, Homage to Jimi

Edit:  Oops.  I hadn’t voted for honorable mention.  If allowed to update, I vote for #11 Headwax, Adventures of Monkeyboy.

I agree with you! So many nice renders. I’ll have to think this over for a couple days. I also hope others come in and take a look, even if they didn’t enter! I know when I hosted, I tried not to spam, but I really promoted the thread in the Commons, at the Carrara Cafe and Renderosity.

Always a tough call on these contests.
Here’s what I’ve ended up with after a LOT of consideration:

Entry # 2.

Artist: evilproducer.

Title: The City of Zed: Completing Her Father’s Quest.

Entry #11

Artist: headwax.

Title:“The Adventures of Monkey Boy.”

Entry #4 (fixed sorry!)

Artist: kashyyyk

Title:59 Caddy

To everyone else,
I love seeing your wonderful WIPs and final renders.
Please keep going for it! Everyone here is always on the brink of stealing the vote from another… so keep up the practice… keep trying and submitting… keep building these awesome Carrara scenes! Although we have to come up with a final vote, it can be pretty hard to do, since there’s some amazing work going on here!

Best of luck to everyone, and Thanks to Howie Farkes and DAZ 3D for sponsoring, and thanks for the excellent hosting by Philemo!

Philemo, I really tried to make the deadline, but fell short. Really sorry, my friend!

I agree with you. I was waiting to have some vote already cast before doing it (as a guideline for new comers).

So many great choices and a lot of neat work. I’d urge everyone voting to check out the WIPs if they haven’t.

When under construction, these contest entries are just as fascinating to me! I must confess to not posting many myself… but I really admire the skill used and following the details of designing a scene is a great learning tool as well. It was hard to choose this time… really hard!

Entry # 2.
Artist: evilproducer.
Title: The City of Zed: Completing Her Father’s Quest
Amazing use of plants to create the jungle around and in the temple, I learned much from your WIPs.

Entry # 10
Artist : Varsel
Title : Space Living
I followed how you put this together… love these green oases thriving in dark space.

Entry #11
Artist: headwax.
Title: “The Adventures of Monkey Boy.”
It’s prehistoric… 2001 Space Odessy…. Planet of the Apes…. great atmosphere, cool WIPs for detail

Equal Honourable Mentions:
Entry #6
Author DUDU
Title: Woodstock
Talking ‘bout my generation here, I could smell the vibes

Entry #4
Artist: kashyyyk
Title:59 Caddy
I remember the big fin Caddys and other GM cars (we had a 59 Buick), great rust effect

Do I look like my avatar? No, that was 30 years ago!
Ah, but I was so much older then I’m younger than that now.

My votes:

#2 by evilproducer: The City of Zed: Completing Her Father’s Quest.
That render is simply breathtaking. One of the best contextual uses of atmospheric effects I’ve seen in 3D. I can really feel the longing for the past glory in this image. And excellently executed, too.

#11 by headwax:  “The Adventures of Monkey Boy.”
There is so much story and back-story in this single 2D frame that I want to read it like a book. Brilliant!

#8 by Stezza:  We don’t need a Delorean.
That image is so much fun, and the details are all well-fitted.

Honourable Mentions:

# 6 by DUDU: Woodstock
That image definitely gets its point across smile The eye-hurting colors are for once the most fitting choice for this story, and I just love how it all comes together to portray the mood and internalized perception. I think it’s the best expression of that very internal, embellished through somewhat distorted memories, idealistic feeling of nostalgia in this mix of entries.

#4 by kashyyyk: 59 Caddy
Love the modeling and texturing here. The lighting is great, and the concept is excellently portrayed and executed. Great image.

Hi to all
You still have 3 days to vote for those who haven’t done so yet wink
I know it’s not easy with all those high quality entries, but it can be done nonetheless grin

I agree with everybody else, in that there as so many great entries it makes it difficult to narrow down. This is a good thing!

My choices are:

Entry: #4
Title: ‘59 Caddy
Artist: kashyyk
Neat job on the Caddy. Really nailed the old paint and worn chrome look.

Entry: #7
Title: Homage to Jimi
Artist: DUDU
Great character study. Nice hair! wink

Entry: #8
Title: We don’t need a DeLorean
Artist: Stezza
Love the humor with the mash-up of a Beverly Hillbillies style vehicle with Back to the Future.

Honorable mentions:

Entry #5
Title: Final Salute- A Paratrooper Remembers D-Day.
Artist: SileneUK
Moving subject matter and very relevant with this being the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

Entry #10
Title: Space Living

Lots of nice little details in this one. Great design on the car!

Extra-special HM:
Entry #11

Entry #11

Artist: headwax.

Just amazing work on this one.. however I really would give more brownie points if there was a monkey climbing up the flag pole.. makes me want to go and watch the movie that’s coming out this week

Who doesn’t love ET

Entry #5

You had my vote when you did your first WiP with how it was set out.. but unfortunately lost me with the final image.. it just lost something for me.. but you are doing great and I can see what you wanted to do with it..
