Here is a scan of an unedited drawing.  It is from a sketchbook that belongs to a gal named Danya.
I am thinking of trying to recreate it with Poser 2012 or Daz Studio 4 pro.
It is a drawing of a girl in front of the mirror.  the guy is not reflecting in the mirror.  I think he is supposed to be a ghost or something like that.  She is pregnant.  There is a little parrot on her shoulder.

how can I do a mirror like that and have it reflect everything except one person like it is in the drawing?

I am trying to clean up the scan so the details are more obvious.  I have the original which can help me with that.  I am using Adobe CS6 to work on it.

Do two renders. One with both people and one with the second person hidden. Exact camera, lighting and everything.Then overlay the two and dial down the opacity of the one that has two people. Your second person is now a ghost or translucent figure.

The issue I was trying to figure out is how to have the girl (Kara) in the reflection but not the guy (Lucivan).  The little parrot is also in the reflection.  the only thing that is not in the mirror’s reflection is the guy.  that is the part I am wondering about.

Kind of the same concept Zev said,do two renders, exactly the same, but hide the guy in one of the two. When you bring them over into Adobe, layer the two images and place the one with the guy in it over the one without him in it. Carefully erase the contents of the mirror in the upper layer. The lower layer should show the mirror, with everything reflected except for the guy. Merge the layers, and you should be all set.

Hmmmm… they very blurry compared to the figure, so my bet is it is just a png picture of wings or a wing set that uses transmapped images.

They look like ThorneWorks universal wings with the texture changed from blue to red.
They can be found in DAZ old freebies.

i think, making him and his clothes and hair ‘invisible in raytracing’ should keep him out of the reflections.  tick box is on the properties palette

If you are going to layer images and postwork them, render to png format and import without taking the background as an alpha channel. I guess if the background is all props, that’s not an issue. Use png, as it is lossless, and allows postwork without compression losses. You can save as jpg after all postwork is done. Here’s a scene where the figure in front of the mirror and the reflection in the mirror are the same figure, but rendered with two different textures. A similar concept. Put one layer on top of the other and erase what does not need to be there.
