I too am having the same problem as SenaRe with duplicate files. However, my problem came about after an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.5 of DAZ. Why bother with upgrade if I have to always uninstall DAZ then reinstall DAZ, then uninstall, just to reinstall. I have a lot of products and can’t afford to spend hours tracking down dups caused by a reinstall of DAZ. There has to be a better way then this…............

They aren’t duplicate files - they are errors in certain files that earlier versions of DS didn’t catch. If you didn’t see the issue until you upgraded to 4.5 then you were using a very old version of 4.0, which may not have given full support to some more recent content, or your error was Duplicate IDs rather than Duplicate Formulas which can be fixed witha script in the short term, though it’s worth getting the updated content in the long term (and again, it isn’t duplicate files).

You know, the more I get into DAZ4 and Genesis, the more I can perceive their fantastic potentials ... if only I could get at them!

I too have been “suffering” from the “Duplicate IDs were found while reading the file ....”. I cried with joy when Search actually found this thread, only to end up with real tears of frustration by the time I had read it to the end. I haven’t a clue what everyone is talking about.

I’m sorry, Richard, but you might as well have written your post above in Greek. It makes absolutely no sense to mere mortals such as myself.

I have to remove and re-install the above. The nearest installed downloads I have to this are:

Genesis Generation X
V4 and M4 Shapes for Genesis
Genesis Evolution Body Morphs
Genesis Evolution Head Morphs
David 3 for Genesis

Which of these should I be re-installing to remove that wretched “Duplicate IDs….” message, which apparently don’t affect anything anyway or do they?

I’ve search Products to try and find a Stephanie 4 version of Genesis but without success. I have 100s (could it be 1,000s!) of Expressions which will not register on my Genesis characters in whatever form and which I would love to be able to convert to Genesis. Do they exist and if so, where are they? The Genesis Generation X Read Me declares “GenX can translate morph or expression poses from Poser format to DAZ Studio format, so you can still use them to load your characters and expressions from the content library”.  Yes, but how? And please don’t refer me to the Manual Version 1.1. That doesn’t help me in the slightest - it is more a declaration of intent than a guide!

Please, oh please, oh please ... when can we have a Manual?

The morphs throw up a different warning - Duplicate Formulas. If you are getting the Duplicate IDs message you either need updated copies of the items that throw the error when loaded (most of those at DAZ, at least, have been updated to avoid the issue) or you need my script to apply the fix to your copy of the items. There’s a thread on Gen X where you should find help with that - assuming you are using DS 4.0, it won’t yet work in 4.5.
