Not for the moment, but Mike has asked DAZ to look into it.

Well that’s too bad… I hope that a release following this beta is offered as a zip file.

So the current beta (DAZ Studio Pro BETA 4.6.0.81) is ONLY going to be available using DIM? Seriously?? I’ve been updating my content library again, and I’ve been finding lots of content that is only available via DIM—I ASSUMED it was just a[nother] glitch in the store software; now I’m wondering if it isn’t something else. Listen up, DAZ: if you’re trying to force your customers into using DIM, I will drop you like a bad habit. I’ve been giving you a second chance recently, but something like this can change that pretty damn quick. You make or broker some really cool content, but I (and a great many others) don’t NEED to use anything you have to offer. Repeatedly antagonizing your customer base really isn’t a successful business model.

This is kind of a departure from the last few releases—in fact, I don’t recall ANY of the other beta releases being limited to DIM downloads. What is so special or unique about this version that requires it?

This is the first beta that could be installed in parallel with the release version.  Previous betas replaced the release version.

And it requires the DIM paths to get that done. It reads your install paths for the info to set the Beta up as Parallel.

You do understand you could Install DIM, install the Beta and then Uninstall DIM. Dim is only needed for the Install, not to RUN it once installed.

Its ok I will wait for the next official release and this better not be the case again… If DIM would import the 200G of DS content i have installed it may be different it’s just not practical…

You could use DIM only for new stuff.

Everyone is entitled to there view, but if you are not buying and not installing content, I ask why the need to bash a feature you have not used and do not plan to use? It has been explained why the DIM was needed for the Beta. A way to get the Beta installed has been shown as well. Why continue beyond this point?

DAZ 3D wishes the users to be able to RUN the beta in parallel with the Version installed at this time. That means DIM. They do not wish users to be forced to Install over a version that is working with a Version that might not work for all users. I see that as a step forward.

You could use DIM only for new stuff.

Not only that.
You could just use it for the beta and leave the rest as it is.
Just untick everything you want to be untouched and everything will be fine.
