Yeah, that’s risky. If paypal finds out, they’ll freeze those funds.

And without those extremely sensitive payment processors, DAZ would not have a business.  Do you really want to go back to days of checks, money orders and 4 to 6 weeks for delivery?

I actually bought some stuff from the Daz Store using paper checks when my card was acting up.  I printed out my own order form and mailed it along with the check.  I saw the download link seven to eight business days later after I put the order in the mailbox.

Indeed, Paypal is very strict on nudity and erotic content, but most sites find a way around it in creative ways.
I also have strong feelings about how erotic content is being addressed here by DAZ, but I do respect their policy.

As a parent there is one product that I’d feel VERY uncomfortable with sharing with kids and that’s “Ron’s Milk”.
The fact that women are being used in those images and not men and that the substance is white as in “milk” (and not like chocolate or whatever other substance).
First time I saw those images my jaw dropped, especially with DAZ’s policy in mind.
Ha, there I said it!
Those images have been bugging me for ages and are the number one reason I look over my shoulder if my kid’s around and I am browsing the store.
I feel those images do not belong in the store and I even find them a bit disgusting…
Doesn’t mean I dislike Ron or his products or even this one product!
I just feel it’s waaaaaaaay too suggestive.

(Oh my, I have never expressed such a harsh opinion before! But after I have dodged it a few times I want to finally get it out in the open!)

I’ve ordered some stuff from them before, and never had any issues with content-blocking. I’ve never actually bought anything that is actually nudity/erotic, though. If you know what you’re looking for, there is actually some nice content on that site. Just don’t think about what it’s supposed to be.

I’m not saying it can’t be done or that it’s a bad thing.  I’m glad that method of payment is still available.  At least your local postal service is quicker than mine.  If I drop the ConEd bill in the mail on Monday morning at the local post office, it doesn’t reach the ConEd billing office until the following Monday.  Still think I could walk it there faster.

Having to wait 4 to 6 weeks for delivery was one of those old mail order fine print things.

Here are several point I would to discuss according to this thread topic.

1. Why DAZ remove the G2F genitalia morph, while the G2M genitalia morph still there ? That is the only question I want to know the answer of.
I just never understand the decision made by DAZ by not including the G2F genitalia morph.

2. People should be aware of Glamour and Erotic art is not considered pornography, please don’t generalize all nude art being porn, that is not nice at all.

3. Female genitalia by all mean is not a static layered image straped to their hips, I have hard time rendering pose that need genitalia adjusment just because there is no morph for it. I have no problem with G2M whatsoever because the morph still there.

4. There is no morph for the G2F genitalia, so guess what, should I always cover or black out every pixel of the genitalia for certain nude pose, this is not nice at all in term of realism and G2F being the most leading and high end figure product of DAZ.

Below is the description of G2F morph bundle which state that “us, costumer, should be able to sculpt the G2F figure to be more specific and complete”. Without the genitalia morph I could say it isn’t “complete”.

It doesn’t specifically state you would be able to sculpt in detailed genitals or morph them.  Genesis 2 Female has a higher poly count than Genesis in some areas but in all honesty, compared to older, higher poly count figures there aren’t enough polys to to it.

Before you ask about adding polys, remember that if you screw up the verts, the existing morphs don’t work.

Odd point but for those who want all the “bells and whistles” for the female gens, why not just hop over to Renderotica and buy what you need?

Reality: Victoria didn’t even have gens until Victoria 5 was released.  The only reason they added it to the Pro Bundle was because during the V4 heyday, they kept having threads about how it was needed for Biology and Medical illustration.  So, to meet the claim, they added it to the Pro Bundle on the premise that if you were a “professional” you would have the funds to purchase it.  If you were not a “professional” but a hobbyist, you wouldn’t (paraphrase from an old thread with DAZ_Rand).

If there were no other options available, I’d say users had a complaint.  Truth is, you can probably pick up what you need at Renderotica for a lot less than the Pro Bundle would cost.

...there were also freebie gens add ons for Aiko3 and Vicky 4 (but nothing for poor Mike, Hiro, or David).

You know, the thing about stuff like that is that sometimes we have to separate our adult minds from those of a kid’s. The images are only suggestive if you know what they are suggestive of. For a kid with no real knowledge of sex, they would be meaningless, and therefore harmless. If your kid knows enough to make the connection, then I’m still not sure if the images can be held responsible at that point.

The problem is not “the American people in general, the problem is that some people are extremely sensitive to nudity and/or artwork of a sexual nature, and could cause a whole lot of headaches for DAZ, no matter how unfair that might be. They are merely a business trying to make money, and are in no way obligated to take a stand for sexual freedom, or the wholesomeness of nudity. People need to stop criticizing both the American people as a whole and DAZ for this problem, because DAZ is just as much a victim of the hypocrisy as the rest of us.

Unless you have the funds to pay a thousand dollars per model, all they are trying to do is whatever they can to stay in business in a relatively small marketplace. Yes, it sucks, but it is what it is.

I would assume DAZ doesn’t care so much about the ‘extremely sensitive people’ and more about the extremely sensitive credit card companies :D

In any way, I don’t see why some consumers, who want more elaborate genitals, should not voice their opinions on this. It’s a marketplace, people should freely say what they want to purchase. I mean you gotta start somewhere and DAZ is as good a place as any.

Those who want it can voice their opinions.  No one is saying they can’t.

That’s weird, i could swear I quoted a post saying that people ‘should stop criticizing DAZ’ because of this.

icprncss - 30 December 2013 10:17 AM

Yes, it’s a marketplace.  But DAZ owns the marketplace and DAZ decides what they will and will not sell.  If you read Male Media’s post, you will understand better why DAZ has taken the course they have.

Thanks, I understand the issue perfectly well. And I agree with DAZ that, at this point in time, they have to protect their business by refusing to sell certain content.

Not at all. I want the credit card companies AND DAZ to change their policies on adult material. The question is how to achieve that change. I believe that bringing the issue up from time to time and speaking about it, not only at DAZ, of course, can be one of many different ways of influencing companies to these policies. Not the only one, not the best one, but one of them nonetheless.

I believe the post you quoted did not say you shouldn’t voice your opinions, but you should stop blaming it on the American people as a whole or on DAZ, as both parties are victims of a small but powerful minority.

I think that it is true that some people in america are some way “weird” in the manner of thinking about sexuality.  For example in the game TERA, korean game, is a lolicon race. They banned some aspects of the clothes, instead of bikinis there was shorts in the american version, because “they look like 12 year old girls”. First of all , this is just computer graphics, this case is even more strange than the mentioned above, because we are talking about nudity alone, not legal things or moral- ethical questions.

Said that, i think most people don’t think in this way, many people in america disagree with this ideology or whatever it is. It’s more a “political” thing, business is afraid of what could happen in legal terms with some things.

But you have some movies with awards and porn stars called “Barely legal 18 first time”, that drives me to think that is a social-media-political incongruousness of moral about nudity and sex.

In the side of artist and business i coud say that the program have to let the designer get his freedom and do whatever he wants, if the program has a limit that isn’t technological but in terms of “what you should/could do” , it’s bad for the artist and then becomes bad for the program and the company itself.

I think most people in the world think almost in the same ways generally speaking, there isn’t such thing like an “american thinking, japanese thinking, hispanic thinking”.

Yeah, that’s risky. If paypal finds out, they’ll freeze those funds.

Just a quick note: You can only buy non-adult stuff with Paypal at ‘Rotica. If you add anything adult to your cart the Paypal option becomes unavailable. It’s a decent compromise.

I wouldn’t think it would be considering you’re on an adult site to get adult items. Most of the non-adult items are available on other sites cheaper and have paypal available as well. Still the paypal rule are really for the site in general, not for buying items so someone’s still skirting the rules.

Daz should have let us know that the ‘update’ would remove existing functionality.  If they don’t want to sell the genitals with the morphs anymore that’s fine, but it’s screwed up that they took the morphs away that we already had.  Maybe I wouldn’t have ever used them, but then again, maybe I would have. When I see an update, I expect an improvement so I download it.  I guess I need to find out exactly what so called ‘updates’ change from now on before installing them in the future.  It would be nice if someone who hasn’t updated their genitals yet would offer to share the previous version to people that didn’t want their morphs removed.
