Victoria 4, 5 and 6 (M4, M5 and M6?) compatibility documentation

JartStarJartStar Posts: 66

Is there any definitive/official documentation of the compatibility between these figures in particular the morphs?

If not my questions are very simple, and I'm sure they've been asked but I searched for half an hour and couldn't hit the magic combo to find the threads.

Could I buy a straight up Victoria 4 (non-genesis) character which requires the Victoria 4.2 Morphs++ and expect it to work properly with Victoria 5 assuming I have all V5/Genesis morphs? Example: http://www.daz3d.com/women/florae-for-v4

Would the same work for M4 to M5? Example: http://www.daz3d.com/men/rm-jared-m4

No, you would need to convert them with this:

And then you would purchase this to get the transferred morphs to look the same:

One last question: Even if the morphs would not work, would the textures be OK?

V4 textures should work fine with Genesis 1, you'll just need to make sure that the UV map is set to V4 though I think that's the default. In fact if you look at them a lot of the V5 characters are using the V4 UV map.

To use a V4 map on Genesis 2 or V6 you'll need the V4 to Genesis 2 Female converter and you'll need to make sure your V4 materials are saved as a .duf file.

I may be biased by being the creator of the product 'Corrected V4 UV for Genesis' but one can not honestly state that the original V4 textures works 'fine' with Genesis unless one point out the obvious.

V4 textures without any make-up look decent on Genesis. The most obvious problems with the body (which my product does not correct) are the knees which moved sideways because the way the uv seam moved from the V4 to Genesis mesh in that area. The elbows also suffer from from positioning errors. Dependent on the used texture this may or may not be a problem.

What's with the face then? With make-up, the first thing one notice is the outer corners of the eyes, then the top left contour of the lip, then the left nostril, then the rest of the face...

The V4 for Genesis 2 Basic Female face uv mapping works fine as it is created.

I'll just say that I haven't noticed any issues with V4 textures on Genesis then. I will admit that I don't tend to use ANY textures with makeup since almost all of them are over done for my tastes. That's a personal preference though.

    That's fair enough =)

I added two fast renders of natural V4 textures: Astrid and RM Willow textures as well as a render of RM Willow's knees to my online directory for comparison of the Genesis / V4 texture mapping. No morphs added:

    Without MakeUp

    Cheerio for now =)

It's funny that I never noticed the problems with V4 textures on Genesis until your product came out. It really is a big difference and now I can't look at the textures without thinking about how wrong they are. It kind of makes your product a "must-have". Thanks for coming up with it.
