Victoria Model Product Compatibility

After working with the Genesis models, I found that I wanted the more versatile Victoria models, so I upgraded to the Victoria 5 Pro Bundle which is truly an awesome package!

For clothing and accessories, I’ve acquired and experimented with some of the products in the shop and found that some don’t seem compatible with V5 Super Model as they either don’t show up in the DAZ 3D Studio 4.5 Smart Content tab, or they don’t render in the correct location relative to the model.

I’d like to find out how better to choose the correct products which will be compatible with the model I am using. As there already is version information on many of the products, how well will products listed as compatible with Genesis work with V5 Super Model if at all and how well will products listed as compatible with V1, V2, V3 and V4 work with V5?

I’d also like to thank all who have contributed to such an excellent collection of clothing, accessories, animations, poses, environments, props and everything else available, which is simply amazing! Truly the work of very talented, dedicated and professional artists.

I also had in mind a particular costume which is not available, so if some artists are interested in a small commission, please let me know and I would be happy to oblige.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Items listed as compatible with Genesis should work just fine as V5 is a genesis Shape. You might need to use Collision settings on the Super Model morph or a Push modifier as that shape is a bit extreme. And DS4.5 will AutoFit some V4 clothing to Genesis just fine and other items not so well it depends on the item. Shoes are a BIG problem with autofit. If you buy and Install the V3 shape for Genesis you will also be able to Autofit V3 items to Genesis, a template comes with the Morph set for Autofit.

Autofit is a hit and miss thing but other products can help. As far as I know only those three are supported in DS4.5 if you add the V3 set. If not only Genesis and V4 clothing and textures work in DS4.5 right out of the box.

I hope this helps.

Jaderail,

Thanks very much for the response which is helpful. I found Autofit to work where I needed, but in one case fitting Wildcat Hair to the Victoria 5 Super Model looks like it auto-converted the model to Genesis.

I haven’t found the Collision or Push modifiers you mentioned, but I’ll look around for them and try them out.

Jaderail,

I see what you mean about footwear being problematic.

I’ve consistently seen issues where some sandal type shoes render toes when they shouldn’t (Autofit doesn’t seem to resolve this) and if they have high heels, whether they are positioned correctly or not seems to depend entirely on the model’s pose.

If the pose has the model on tip-toes, the high heels are positioned correctly, otherwise if the pose has the model standing flat on their feet, then the high heels render at an incorrect angle and protrude through the 0-y plane, i.e. through the floor.

Any tips on solving these would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Well high Heels will need the Tip Toe thing. Most should come with a Foot pose you apply after you do the other body pose. Then you just move the figure up in your Viewport to get the feet (shoes and all) back on the ground.

It looks like one particular product doesn’t seem compatible with Victoria 5 / Genesis:

Victoria 3.0 Fantasy Sci-Fi Uniform (V2 Version Upgrade) [Sku 1198]

I’ve tried to use these from the Content Library and it is not possible to fit them to the model.

Using the “Fit to” option, after selecting the uniform item requires choosing Victoria 4 from the drop down menu and doesn’t fit properly, missing the correct y-plane value. Maybe I’m not using it right.

My understanding is that the “Fit to” option is the DAZ Studio 4 Auto-Fit Tool / plug-in that comes activated with DAZ Studio 4.5 Pro and/or Victoria 5 Pro Bundle, but if this is not correct, please let me know what I’m missing.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any information you can provide.

In order to autofit from Gen 3 figures you need the Iconic Shape for that figure.  Only the Gen 4 figures are supported out-of-the-box.

fixmypcmike,

Thanks very much for the tip, that awesomely did the trick!

There are a couple of adjustments needed after posing though, for example skin showing through the shirt at the top of the arm by the shoulder or toes showing through a shoe bottom. How can I make that adjustment?

I haven’t found a way to make the adjustments needed to wardrobe items after Auto-fit, but the problem can be somewhat mitigated by adding the wardrobe items _after_ posing the model, although this doesn’t always work.

If there were a way to adjust the wardrobe item mesh without effecting the model, that would do the trick, but it seems that after Auto-fit, wardrobe items become part of the model so they would need to be separated first before making the mesh adjustment.

I’m also wondering if using Collision settings or Push modifiers which Jaderail had suggested previously would be useful here.

If there is a way to do this (I understand if it may not be possible due to model and Auto-fit complexities), any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Collision and push modifiers are the easiest way to eliminate pokethrough.  The clothing item does not become part of the figure after autofit.

What’s very strange is, V4 clothes fits better on basic female then V4, regardless how much I morph basic female body, clothes adjust automatically to fit, doesn’t work the same for V4.

That’s the beauty of Genesis, you don’t have to have all the morphs built into the clothes.

I completely agree, v4 is awesome, but time consuming, Genesis is very user friendly grin

Applying the Push modifier helps but has the effect of inflating the entire wardrobe item:

1. Select the wardrobe item in the scene (a number of ways to do this)
2. From the top menus choose: Edit | Object | Geometry | Apply Push Modifier

If there is a way to adjust the Push Modifier in DAZ Studio 4.5 Pro so that it is less than the default (e.g. 0.1 vs 1.0), please let me know.

I also couldn’t find the Collision settings so any tips on that would be appreciated.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

I found the following video which demonstrates a better way to solve poke-through problems with both Genesis and V4 models:

Smoothing and Collision Detection for Clothing

Note that there are consistent problems viewing the instructional videos because buffering performance is too slow, which causes playback to frequently hang for long periods of time.

It would be great if these videos were available for download instead. If there’s a link for that, please let me know. Thanks.

you can adjust the push modifier down.  I ususally set it to 0.1 from the default 1.0 and go up from there as necessary.  You’ll find the slider in the parameters.
