Hi there Brycers. I can’t say that I have clocked up much time in Bryce, but I’m a fan of the program and the art people are making with it. On my blog I’ve just started a series of posts about the program that will feature the works of several Bryce artists I was lucky enough to talk to recently. The first post can be found here http://digisprawl.com/blog/bryce-alive/

Second reason for posting is that I’m interested in tracking down more Bryce/DAZ focused blogs - anyone know of or maintain one?

Great stuff there.

You may want to amend one bit though. Bryce isn’t free anymore. It’s $19.95 at the moment after being free for over a year.

Always good to see people loving and promoting Bryce. grin

Thanks guys, and thanks for the correction, Dave. Not sure how that one skipped me by. Awesome mock promo image by the way.

Sorry yes, I meant to mention that, but I’m too busy obsessing over my HD’s… But yes, you should talk to Dave definitely!  Talk to Dave, but here at DAZ 3D there are no galleries (I know, I can hardly believe it myself) and his beautiful renders are all buried higgeldypiggeldy in this thread http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/14050/P1230/#274229 also there is Dan Whiteside too, both these guys bravely forging ahead on their Mac’s, in the face of troublesome bugs.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time lurking on that thread - lots of great stuff there. I could see myself doing quite a long series of Bryce stuff. I’ll have to see where it takes me.

Thanks Horo, both blogs have some very interesting stuff, and I’ll be keeping an eye on them. Uncharted Regions seems to be mostly related to Vue, at least in the recent past, but I’ll dig a little deeper.

...and I probably should have done so earlier, but I give both you and David my thanks for all your help.

I agree, the more Bryce promotion out there the better!

Hi Eva, thanks for the links to your blogs. I’ve seen your materials in the store here and always thought they looked cool. I had a bunch in my cart when I thought I was about to start doing Bryce in a big way. Instead of Brycing I ended up spending all that time learning about modelling (it’s an ongoing thing like any 3D expedition).

Heya!

Yes, I have been on sabbatical from Bryce and exploring Vue for the last few months - I needed to see what all the fuss was about. I plan on doing some more Bryce coverage in the future after a short downtime with my hardware. Landscapes are still the name of the game in any case, so drop on by and check out cool stuff for inspiration.

Hey Stephen, so nice to see you again here in the Bryce forums. Playing with Vue was - of course - a sacrilege wink Yes, others also make great software and these also have limits. I’m looking forward to see what you come up with. We’re still trying to fathom what we’ve got with the last Bryce upgrade.

Yeah, but I am a learning heretic out here in Vue-land. Being one of Bryce 7’s architects, I like to study the competition from an extremely low level and get a feel for what makes it tick. I did a QA pass on Vue vs. Bryce displacement in a post that was very enlightening. There is a lot I like about Bryce, truth be told, but a lot that could be made better. That, and Vue works on my Mac natively, unlike the current Bryce version. Still, Bryce is home for me, and I have that hope that someday it shall rise supreme over all competitors again.

Thanks for the links, Hak. Now I see what you’re up to. That’s why we started looking into Octane - David is already way ahead of me.

Ha!  I’m just stabbing wildly at controls and playing with sliders… I don’t know what I’m doing.  But it’s fun!  Had a crack at SSS with skin earlier - I’ve been trying to achieve this in Bryce for months now - it’s really needed for figure work.  He’s my first attempt with Octane using the resources I found in DS’s runtime and exported geometry.

Oh, that’s really nice, David…Octane certainly seems to excel in this skin area, I think. Would love to buy the ‘ware, but checked it out just now - assuming I have the correct one, and wow, way too pricey. Think I’ll stick with Bryce for now smile
