Wellingtons (shortened to wellies) were originally named after the Duke of Wellington and are what you call rain boots?
A SouWester is a hat with a wide bit at the back to protect your neck from rain. It was worn by sailors in wet weather and the name comes from the wind direction of a storm. Phew! I feel like a dictionary.
