The only person I haven’t come up with an idea for in regards to my Xmas Gift Art Project is my cousin. The only things that come to mind are that she is a dancer (teaches dance to kids) and that she was in Prague earlier this year and was engaged there. So… I need to combine those in some fashion or just focus on Prague since I’ve done dance artwork for her before. Trouble is, I’ve never been there and don’t know much about the city other than what I learned in my history classes… which isn’t much help right now.

Could someone who knows about Prague help me? I don’t know exactly what I should ask… I just need to find a way to “capture” Prague or the spirit of it in a 3D artwork so that when she sees it she can be reminded of being there. Does that make sense? I hope someone can help me.

Thanks, great idea! I had a look there and at deviantART and I found a photo that has the perfect idea. It’s of children in traditional dress dancing in the city. It’s perfect if I can manage to recreate it in 3D. I think I can duplicate the costumes but the buildings are another matter.

Are there any building models that look similar to what you might find in Prague?

I’m currently looking at several of Jack Tomalin’s Divinity Skies models in the DAZ PC that I might be able to blend in with a stock photo. I hope that will work!

I’ll keep looking for more ideas though, just in case there’s something better out there.

I have been to Prague many times, it is the capital of my country after all. In general you could say that Prague is a town full of old architecture buildings from various time periods - Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque etc… This is true for the center of Prague, town quarters like Hradčany, Old Town, New Town, Lesser Quarter, which were all founded in the Middle Ages. Of course there are also newer parts of Prague with modern buildings, but all those old monuments are what tourists are after when they come to Prague.

Here are a couple of images of Prague. First comes - means of transport:

1) Ruzyne Airport (renamed to Vaclav Havel Airport last month) - this is where you friend must have arrived at Prague
2) Public transport in Prague - a tram
3) Prague Metro (subway)

Charles Bridge in Prague, over the river Vltava. Built around 1400 (but the statues are from a much later period), nowadays no cars are allowed, it is for walking only, and considered a romantic walk, I have heard.

Staromestske namesti (Old Town Square), popular among tourists:

Astronomic clock (orloj) in one corner of Old Town Square (made 1410 and still working). Tourists are really mad about it, every full hour large crowds of them gather around it to watch the show.:
