As of now whenever I want to install new content and add the queued metadata all metadata is removed instead.

This behavior started after a fatal error during installation of queued metadata.

A step by step view what happend when I tried to install a new clean version of both DAZStudio_4.5.1.6_Win64 and the CMS:

Startup view:

View before accepting to add queued metadata:

View after metadata is queued:

All the metadata that is supposed to show up in the different Tabs like Smart Content etc is gone. All categories are missing.

What steps have I done to solve the issue myself:

Login PC user out and in again
- Does not solve the problems. The metadata categories in the tabs are still not showing.

Turning PC on and off again
- The metadata tabs are showing again. Nevertheless the last metadata queued before the tabs and categories were removed were not processed

Content Library Tab / Content Database Maintenance / Reimport Metadata
- Queuing metadata to be processed instantly triggers all metadata in Tabs and Categories to be removed.

Uninstalling DAZStudio_4.5.1.6_Win64
- Does not change anything. Queueing new metadata removes all metadata in Tabs and Categories

Uninstalling the Content Management System
- Does not change anything. Queueing new metadata removes all metadata in Tabs and Categories

Manually deleting the databases folder of the Content Management System
C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases

- Does not change anything. Queueing new metadata removes all metadata in Tabs and Categories
After queuing new metadata after a fresh installation of both DAZ and the CMS a new \databases folder was not yet created

Manually deleting all metadata in the support folder
C:\Users\username\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Runtime\Support

- Does not change anything. Queueing new metadata removes all metadata in Tabs and Categories

- - -

When did this behavior happen the first time?
I tried to queue metadata from about 15 products. While the queued metadata was being processed a fatal error happened. After that all metadata in Tabs and category was gone.
Restarting the pc made the allready installed metadata appear again. But since it is impossible to process any new metadata that is queued either at startup or from Content Database Maintenance.

What else can it be?

As far as I know there are two places were metadata is stored. The product and the local database.
But which is which?
I thought that one place is
C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases

and the other place is

C:\Users\username\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Runtime\Support

Is there anywhere else metadata information stored that may have been compromised and is now impacting the way metadata is queued and processed in a unfortunate way?

Any suggestions?

I really cannot understand how a clean new installation of both the CMS and DAZ Studio are not solving this issue. There just must be some corrputed files somewhere. But where?

Update / Edit:

The behavior got worse:
At restart of the pc and DS4.5 the metadata is showing. Then a few seconds later all the categories vanish.

My theory is that the synch process between the local and the product database and / or the imported metadata user data is causing the issue.

What is the “local database” and where are its files stored on a windows pc?

What is the “product database” and where are its files stored on a windows pc?

What is the “user data” and where are its files stored on a windows pc?

I am getting desperate here.

Now the metadata does not even show up when a new DS4.5 with

14812_GenesisStarterEssentials_1.6_trx.exe

is installed.

What did I do before the reinstallation?

To make sure there are no corrupted files around after the crash I uninstalled every DAZ related content in the following places:

C:\Users\username\Documents\DAZ 3D
C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D

This means I deinstalled DS4.5 and the Content Management System and ALL content, plugins and add-ons. At least now everything sould have been working again!

My guess really is that the synchronization process between the so called local and product databases or the “User Data” is causing this.
All the new installations wont be any help as long as there somewhere on my system still old data remains that was affected by the crash.

Please, someone help me out here with suggestions where else on the system DAZ content is stored especially related to metadata and the content management system?

Edit / Update - Solved:

- I run the CC cleaner.
- I followed all the steps in this thread:

http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/8028/#105548

Thx Adam!

Still did not solve the issue until I noticed that the database location seems to have changed for my system:

C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases

and not

C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases

Could it be that in some studio version updates this location had changed and then the CMS was confused which folder to look in?

I manualy deleted the files as suggested in the thread.
After that a

Content DB Maintenance

- Reset Database
- Reimport Metadata

solved my issue for now. Hopefully it stays that way.
