I see a lot of misinformation regarding these two functions which I would like to correct. But only if I get a lot of readers and posts saying so. I am using this thread as a yard stick.

This thread and your render thread contains a lot of usefull insigths about CG. Information about HSS and render settings will be great for all users of Daz Studio - please consider to release it, if you find a time.
Consider this another vote for more detailed stuff. I’m mostly at the point where I’ll upgrade DAZ surfaces (especially stuff that was more like Poser mats) to Ubersurface 2 and I’ll usually transfer bump maps over to displacement instead. I’ve played a bit with creating my own custom displacement maps, or a transparency map but that’s about the level I’m at. I’d love to see some more detail on unlocking the power of HSS (which would apply to Ubersurface as well) and the surfaces panel in general.
I would stick with learning UberSurface as there isn’t much difference between UberSurface and UberSurface 2. I will do something that helps with UberSurface and I will just touch on the differences between to two. When is a matter of time and my knowledge. For me to explain everything I need to go and learn more. I am in the process of doing that now.

Agreed, I’m pretty sure the main thing that gets added with US2 is the layering, although I think the SSS has been changed as well too (could be wrong on that one).
Yes both of those and the ability to over ride the Advanced Render Setting Max Ray Trace Depth when using IDL (Indirect Lighting) via Uber Environment 2.
