My 7 yr old grandson had to go school last week and tell his second-grade teacher: “My baby brother ate my homework.” He was almost in tears because he thought he would get in trouble.
I thought a thought that I thought I had thought but the thought that I had thought wasnt the thought that I had thought I had thought so maybe if I had thought the thought that I thought I thought I wouldn’t of thought so much

oh so deathly bright

each and every night
I did manage to get published one time back in those days. I soon stopped because a very good friend pointed out that all my work made people depressed. He said I should burn it all just to remove the negative from the world. I didn’t but in some way must have agreed because now I can not find any of my old work books or my confirmation letter for the poem Without. I know I kept it all even the rejection form letters but i have not a clue where I put any of it. And I’ve hunted for it many times.

NOW that’s really STUPID.
Outside of children’s books (Dr, Seuss, for example) and pop songs, there is no happy poetry of any substance.

I actually have a lot of my mid life poetry, and indeed a couple of critques of them as well. One said that I had a way of describing things with words, but would be better sticking to prose rather than attempting the poetic form. Talk about damning someone with faint praise.
