...so is there any hair available that would work well for Merida from the film Brave?
I have seen hair that has that generic shape, but none with those lovely curls..
You could ask Virtualworld what she used
Nerissa - not long enough ...
Thalia ... looks good
You could try with Mairy's free hairs, using more than one to get the fullness
Pretty sure Nerissa Hair *is* what VW used....
Another possibility for a similar hairstyle might be:
Ariadne Hair http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=58291
oo, and Minerva Hair might be made to work too http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=62315
Mairy's hair have a lot of morphs. Lot of them have long and extra long morphs...
Also maybe Bolina Hair - http://www.daz3d.com/shop/bolina-hair/ will work for your needs
Here is the render I made with it ( it's pretty old render) with long morph : http://gloomy007.deviantart.com/gallery/28615377?offset=24#/d2ski4t
...apologies, for the late response, however seems all the ebots to every thread I was subscribed to decided to fly south for the coming winter. Been a long couple days of playing catch-up with a hamstrung search routine and threads still not sorting by most recent post.
Krissy, beautiful pic there.
Thank you for the suggestions. Looked into the "making of..." a bit more and alas her hair apparently was custom created. Something on the order of 1,500 individual curls were used with over 110,000 hair strands which required development of a new CGI system to handle it all. The hair alone took about three years to create and animate, and they have both top of the line hardware and dedicated software.
For the curliness and fullness Nerissa Hair definitely looks to be the closest though still somewhat more well "groomed" than the actual character's hair. Also not sure how the body of the curls will handle the lengthening morph as in some hairs I've noticed distortion occur when lengthened too far..
