Yea and you have to be a mathematician to wrangle Blender into any sort of working order. I've tried time and time again. I just don't have the mind set to deal with that set up. Sorry.

...are the wrinkles and folds in the clothing all hand drawn...

Regrettably, yes. The clothing/hair was all painted on in Photoshop.

I wouldn't call an ability to paint that well regrettable. I'm a big fan of Mavrosh's over on DA as well.

Regrettably? Please... I can barely do a fill in photoshop.

Converted another character over to M5. Fighting the material settings though and I don't think I'm gonna win; there's a lot of burned in stuff on his face textures.

    That's Dante, isn't it?

Decided to do something a bit different with kjngraphix' Teddy Bears this time. Used Red as the base, and then added all three African ethnicity morphs at varying strengths for the head, without removing Red's head. Worked kind of surprisingly well, actually. Used Muted Banshee's Tyrell for the texture, Ubersurfaced with restrained abandon. Set is the Old Forge with Fuseling's Morphing Grounds underneath -- for some reason, the forge doesn't have a floor. And the clothing is from the old Anvil set, and it is ... odd. Very odd. I'd love to know what previous generations of blacksmiths actually wore; I somehow feel relatively certain that standard blacksmith clothing, of whatever period, included perhaps a bit more than a wrap-around apron, bracers, boots ... and a steel codpiece. (Not that you can see it under the apron.) Boots are from Sickleyield's Necromancer set, because the F3 boots that came with Anvil did not take autofit at all well.

And now for something completely predictable (from me anyway)...

Everything but the figure in post work (although there was quite a bit on the figure's face too come to think of it) - I envy folk who can model all this without resorting to cheap post-workery.

    But still, there you go...

That's a great image and I am one of those people who have to rely on cheap post-workery although you wouldn't know if because I rarely post anything!
Post-workery is common place in CG work I'm afraid, especially for those on a budget. If I had the budget of PIXAR or ILM then I would model every skin pore and bead of sweat on his face, not to mention the fibres on the clothes. :D

Oh and quit beating up your own work! }:O

I've been trying to convert SAV Dante with GenX but It always mangle the eyelashes. How did you do it? If you are using GenX can you tell me which morphs you are transfering into a single morph.

    Thanks!

I had to take it into modo to try to fix what I could. But, I ended up just hiding them. I think SAV's morphs are the only ones that does that. Boris is totally unusable because the explosion is in the eyesockets. I may have to see if there's something I can repair in the M4 morph before moving him over.

    Sigh, Thanks for the reply.

I guess hiding the lashes is a must for now.

I didn't have any huge problems moving Dante over with GenX -- for some reason, the custom morphs move over a tiny bit easier than the M4 Morphs++ version -- but his lashes are odd, yes.

EDIT: Yeah ... disregard previous post here. I just tried the lashes with Dante's own body, GenX'd, and his lashes disappear into his head as the shape is dialed up. Happens with both the custom morph and the Morphs++ version. I tried using the different eyelashes morphs to lengthen them a bit, and ... my, that was ugly. With even very small values, they looped out of his eyelids and curled back on themselves, or with other sliders, wound up exploding out of the top of his head, which I hadn't realized was even possible. With anyone else's head and his textures (see below), they're just fine. That said, lashes that disappear are preferable to eye sockets that explode. That had to be startling, to put it mildly.

Even granting it's postwork, all the folds on the garments are still pretty good. Hope you didn't mind me commenting on your pilot being overweight, by the way. :)

Anyway, another render of mine featuring a 'bard-barian'.

Been playing with mixing M5 + Freak 5 morphs - a whole world of masculine possibilities. Here is one with Jepe's Yves texture.

Playing around with Freak 5 morphs, Knights and Knaves and all the available morph kits available.
I'm not very happy about the hair colour, trying to get them to match is a pain. DS keeps crashing when I change the shader settings, colour, spec, SSS and so on... driving me up the wall.

I hope this isn't too risque an image, I mean there is nothing flopping about or dangling.
So... I doubt anyone here would be offended by a little bit of hair here or there. :D

Playing around with M5 as Tarzan. Darkened the skin using diffuse and put some blue in the iris. Still learning and having a blast.
Anyone know how to increase the bump and or displacement on the nipples so they have goose bumps?
Great thread guys and thanks for all the tips :)

    Here's another M5 F5 blend...

Subtly Added in some of the Zev0 aging morphs from Rendo - in addition to aging, they work really well for adding character definition to the face ... I still havn't mastered displacement maps for that.

I'm not being at all snarky, I promise, but I really do love the fact that you take breaks from making your own products by doing substantially the same thing with other people's products. You take busman's holidays to a literal art form!

Anyway, in keeping with the brief: I got Leon when he made a brief appearance in Fast Grab, and then promptly didn't do anything with him, so I thought I'd give him a spin. Also tried out the Tattoo Parlor on him, because I hadn't used it on a character with actual M5 UVs. (And it turns out the nipple tattoos, at least, can't work properly on M4 UVs, because they come complete with their own nipple texture, for some reason, and lining them up is a misery.) His texture really is very very nice. And he's wearing Ghastley's loincloth, Fabricatored, as well as bits and pieces of Luthbel's Wildenlander. Lighting is Inane Glory's Photo Studio Lights 2

The other one is Male-M3dia's Axel M5 Reese freebie from the Christmas Countdown, with SAV's Alpha Moikana hair and Alpha Male M5 texture, Ubersurfaced a bit, and with almost all of Zev0's Aging morphs to make his face look older. The coat's from the Steam Cowboy set, converted using Wancow's OBJ transfer method, more or less. Skirt is F3 Dark Paladins, transferred with Wancow's method and a couple of other things. Lighting is Forbidden Whispers DIY Portrait Lights. (I really really really love that set.)

Both images use point-cloud occlusion, mostly because I used it for something else and forgot to turn it off when I rendered these.
