Nigel for Genesis-M5....

I simply can not believe there isn't a huge thread for this yet. SERIOUSLY the BEST character made for Genesis so far. The body fur, the face options, the skin quality... YUMMY. Actually reminds me of ... yea, I know here I go getting tacky.... a porn star I liked looking at (not for his junk either but because he is just dreamy good looking with a bit of a bad boy thing going) named Randy. Same sort of body hair. If they would have used a wavier hair style on him might have thought it was a digital him.

Anyway, here is Nigel. Check it out.

Damn you! For guessing the source of our inspiration for all our male characters! The secrets blown..... Now we'll have to retire! ;-P Hehe.

I'm so pleased you like him & can't wait to see what renders you all make with him.

Well with my constantly making freebie content I MIGHT have time to play with him... lol Just supporting and cheerleading! lol

OH and folks... this team rocks... they made two versions. One for DS 4.0 and one for 4.5 so no one using the older version of 4.0 is left out in the cold.

Just wondering if PA's would be interested in shipping the textures with options for no brows and such. In DS, the movement to "real hair" is becoming more popular and having the "painted" hair is a problem. It would be very nice to have completely hairless textures so that those using polygon hair, or the upcoming LAMH, can work without impediment.

I think that's a good idea. My update for Bruno has a fully hairless face option! *soon* :P

    And butter. *whoot*

Also: would totally love no-eyebrows option 'cuz what was said up there. I kinda like to eyebrow-erize them myself. :)

    Thanks.

He uses M4s UVs. He was originally meant to be an add-on for the original M4 version. But instead, we totally reworked the entire textures and updated the morphs to be used with Genesis/M5. These textures are completely reworked and clearer and more detailed than the ones in the M4 version.

All of our skills have improved since the previous Nigel was released. So we thought we'd revamp/upgrade one of our best selling males for the Genesis marketplace.

He has also been updated to DS 4.5 as well for total forward-compatilibilty.

Yeah I messaged FW earlier and said "You forgot to add it in the description!" :ohh:

We try to add those in all of our products, which is why I wanted our guys updated to M5. As FW said earlier, Nigel was supposed to be an addon, but the genesis textures got reworked and then I started reworking the morphs I originally created, including rebuilding the Nigel morph from scratch (Blame the Chandler and Miles morphs, Nigel couldn't be outdone) and then we added the conversion of the product for DSON (DS 4.5)... so he really became a separate product from the original, which allowed us to include and build upon since he was made from the original DS 4 betas and way before GenX (The best morph really was the genesis version and I had to send it back to M4... never will do that again).

So we're restraining ourselves and Santo and Ryuu will be addons for their original products (so if you don't have 'em, get them today! The new Ryuu morphs are a departure from the original and Santo, let just say you're gonna like where I'm goin with the addon).

Then finally Axel, our first product at DAZ, is getting a M5 reimagining as well. Because there was so many morphs from him, I had to reduce the cast :( (can't leave Axel though), but with the new guys I just finished, I don't think you'll miss them much. ;)

Then we can finally work on the original M5s.

In the meantime, here's some promos that didn't make the cut (ran out of slots):

Ah. So, just to be clear: if we buy him now but are running 4.0.3.47, we should hold off on installing the new Nigel to keep from messing up old Nigel until we're running 4.5? (I like old Nigel too much to mess him up, meself.)

As a matter of purest curiosity, I hope this doesn't sound crass, but is there any sort of discount for purchasers of previous-edition Nigel, since he came out less than a year ago (just barely) and was also for Genesis? I get that there's a lot more Nigel to love (... OK, that came out wrong) and at 50% off now, I don't hugely care. Just curious.

you can install the 4.0 version now, the 4.5 version will overwite the morphs; though you may need want to remove or rename the directory in People->Genesis->Characters->Male_M3dia so that you don't get confused with the presets. Or you can just set the uninstall flag so that it will remove nigel when you're ready to upgrade.

Also if you have the Genesis/M4 version, the morphs and textures in this product are in separate directories, so you won't lose the original morphs or textures.

No, there's no discount this time around. Plus, like you said 50% off is a great discount anyway. :)

The entire figure has been reworked, including the textures. So he's basically a whole new character. A Nigel 2.0 if you will. Just, this version is purely for Genesis and requires M5 to work. Whereas the old Nigel only needed Genesis or M4 (if you so choose). We would have offered an additional discount if he was merely a morph update, or just a texture update. But not both.

How the hell did I get unsubscribed from my own thread?? OMG... the dreaded forum curse has followed us here! lol

I'm not sure who you morphed him after but it's a very likable face, all iterations of it. The body hair is absolutely gorgeous. Of course I don't see much on the arms or legs from the promos but now that I have Zev0's product doesn't much matter! lol Not installed him yet, am working on my hair pack and getting it ready to use more universally as well as watching a web thing ... the thread is here in the Commons: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/7480

Back to work. Thanks for the fabulous old character made new again! I thank you, Genesis thanks, the bird that just pooped on my railing thanks you..... *off to throw something at it* lol

I was just looking at that thinking I already purchased it but I purchased the earlier one for M4 and Genesis. It took me a moment to realize it was a new set. I wish they had given the set a different name. I am worried some others may make the same mistake. *chuckle*

I love the new set, though. It is very different and adds quite a bit of variety to the mix of M5 shapes and faces. Great work, guys!

I have the original but this dude is just spell binding handsome to me. The older Nigel was one of the first I bought for Genesis but there was something about how the shaders or something about it... can't remember but begged off using it. I know this team is even better than ever at their craft so the purchase was well worth it and at this intro price.. hell yea

Can anybody confirm if he comes with any gens textures? The store page doesn't mention anything about them.

Ah, OK, I missed that you had both 4.0 and 4.5 installers the first time you said it.

That said, it looks like I don't have a good version of the 4.0 installers, which, given the weirdness with ordering (not your fault, the store went all wonky in the middle and then double ordered for me) doesn't surprise me. It's missing everything but the Color and Bump texture directories; Displacement, Specular, Transmap and SSS are completely missing from my installation.

How big is Nigel supposed to be? I have two installers for PC; part 1 is 231.144 KB and part 2 is 198,663 KB.

EDIT: Reset, redownloaded, uninstalled, reinstalled. Still no sign of those texture directories. Tried installing the 4.5 version to a temp directory to see if the directories were there -- textures are textures, right -- but Studio won't let me install Genesis-dependent files to directories without Genesis in them, and I don't have the right version for it to let me install anyway.

EDIT 2: Was actually able to install the 4.5 version. No joy there either; the same textures are still missing. Something went weird at DAZ with the installers, I think. Is there perhaps supposed to be a third installer file with the rest of the textures for both versions?

Makes me really really really wish for zip files, this does.

I installed the DS 4.5 version of Nigel for M5. The metadata is quite unconventional. The majority of the textures appear in the Smart Content tab under Materials->Masculine->Nigel for M5->EHHS and Materials->Masculine->Nigel for M5->Default. This is not under the Presets->Materials grouping where you would expect such materials to appear. Also, I expect EHHS is a typo for EHSS. The morphs appear in Shaping on the Smart Content tab, not in Presets-> Morphs. I had a hard time finding all this. Is there a good reason for deviating from the norm with the metadata for this product?

Edit: Added the Nigel for M5 I left out of the metadata path description.

I'm having problems with Nigel for M5 product. I think maybe part of the product was left out of the installers. I installed the DS 4.5 PC version (14966_NigelForM5DS45Pt1_1.0_trx.exe and 14966_NigelForM5DS45Pt2_1.0_trx.exe).

When I try to apply either body texture (00 Default Body Bald.duf or 00 Default Body Hair.duf), it cannot find textures for Displacement, Spec, or SSS. If I look at the path specified, there are only two directories (1. Color and 2. Bump). There is no folder 3, 4 ,or 5 for the other textures.

There also seem to be no textures at all for the eyelashes. If I start with a plain Genesis, and apply the Nigel materials, I get solid lash arcs. If I start with M5, I get some eyelash maps left over from the default M5 Phillip texture; they are not replaced with Nigel maps.

Does anyone else see these same errors?

Edit: Aha! I searched my hard drive and found some additional folders in the wrong place. This product evidently installed a second runtime folder under the real runtime folder. As in: ...\My Library\Runtime\Runtime\Textures\JSGraphics\Nigel M5. Perhaps if I move those to the real runtime where the program looks, it will solve these issues. I will try tomorrow when I have time.

Ok, not sure about what this means. If we purchase Santo/Ryuu for Gen/M4 and want to just use the Genesis version we still need to have/install the M4 version?
