Doc Savage

The old pulp covers had him looking a lot like a typical Hollywood leading man. The later paper back book covers done by Boris had him looking very distinct. The ONE thing that always stood out to me was the outfit. A quick google on the character will show you what I mean.

Is there a pair of pants even close to that for Genesis? I think I can do the boots with the supersuit boots fairly well, but the pants are a lot trickier.

The shirt I can do with the dynamic shirt and transparency maps.

Any leads? Even a M4 pants will do.

Seems to me that the Desert Paladin pants aren't TOO far off... (or could be made to work anyway) http://www.daz3d.com/shop/desert-paladin-for-genesis/

Otherwise converting something is probably your best bet.. Possibilities that come to mind include:
    Cavalier M4/H4 http://www.daz3d.com/shop/cavalier-for-m4-and-h4/
    Immortal Ronin http://www.daz3d.com/shop/immortal-ronin/
    Jack of Hearts http://www.daz3d.com/shop/jack-of-hearts/

If your Genesis has a fit for Hiro 3, there's jodhpurs pants in this set.

Kurokuma's "Sky Hunter Rocket Men" (Rocketeer/Commando Cody-inspired) has a classic set of jodhpurs. It's for M3, but if you've got the bodyshape, it should be auto-fittable to Genesis..

There's also the "Kapitän Andreas Schmidt" for M4 Uniform by Powerage over at Renderosity...

would of course need some retexturing, but comes at the primeprice of 3.50$ and the boots should fit too...

I'm glad someone started this thread; I've been looking for pants like this. Now I won't have to try to make my own.

Which look do you like better? I love the old Walter Baumhoffer covers, that is Doc Savage to me. Never cared for when they made him literally look like bronze.

I just revisited this thread to check out the links, and it seems that the Kapitan set (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/kapitan-andreas-schmidt-m4/88274) is probably the best choice. The other at Rendo is no longer available, and all of the ones mentioned at DAZ are around $20.00, nearly twice the price of Kapitan. Not that price is the only issue; I like the look of the pants at Rendo better.

While I'm not doing a render of Doc Savage (I need the pants for an original character who is partially inspired by the man of bronze), I think I personally prefer the look of Doc on the book covers, both by Bama and Boris. I think the pulp covers may be closer to how he was described in the stories, but I grew up with the paperbacks, and that's the image that's stuck in my head.

I like the old covers better. I bought my #1 son his first Doc Savage books 40 years ago.
