Is it possible to render an image in B&W even thought the objects are coloured, can some one help me?

@GussNemo... Thanks for this tutorial link... I am working on my 3rd "trees" entry that I had planned on taking into PhotoShop for B/W Gray scale.. I might try out David B's technique... We'll see. Glad the contest goes until the end of the month.. lots to learn and lots to do.
