Well I don't have Max, but yes there is a smoothing function in Hexagon. Several levels but going over 2 is normally not a good idea.

Controls are above symmetry and the collapse/undo is in the Dynamic Geometry tab.

    Just a quick comment on smoothing.Even a 1 setting seems to much.I wish they had a 1/2.

How do you mean 1 is too much? If you mean even with level 1 it results in your model deforming, then you need to introduce additional edges to assist in supporting the object. If you could upload a screen shot showing the wireframe before and after smoothing we might be able to help you more. We need to see your problems, please, ta ever so. ;-)

There is also smoothing in surface modeling tab which haves Breaks option. Using that you can select lines where you dont want so much bending (or rounding) to occur. You dont have to hold down shift for more than 1 line selection while Breaks are active, just click on lines. Or you can drag a box over whole model to select all lines and if you wish, exclude some of the areas you want to be more rounded by clicking on lines to deselect them.

Also smooth from surface modeling haves tension regulation and partial smoothing for some of the smoothing types. Partial smoothing offers option to select just parts (surfaces) of the model you want to smooth and everything that is not selected will not get smoothed (divided).
