DAZ Studio Splash Screen - urgent request for removal

Dear DAZ Developer Team of DAZ Studio

Whilst I am grateful that you make DAZ Studio available free of charge, not lacking good quality feedback regarding the software, but the startup splash screen is of great concern to me.

I like to address, that I do not worship, endorse or look at images that portray Satan or the Devil.
It has to do with my peaceful religious believes.

Please provide me with an option to :

a) to disable the splash screen

b) to at least change the horror image of Satan to something very peaceful

Thank You for your understanding

EDIT: I use Mac OS-X Snow Leopard and I don't have Windows PC

While I agree it would be nice if you could change the image, that is not meant to be Satan IMO. I would think more would be upset over the scantily clad gal, LOL.
You should probably submit a support ticket since they rarely read the forums

I was almost tempted to write "the devil is in the scantily clad detail", but then I thought this might be read wrong :P

Agreed -- looks to be a helpful and friendly assistant with an unfortunate skin condition, or maybe metabolically-challenged. Nothing that justifies name-calling! That having been said, I'd have trouble convincing anyone this software was appropriate to an office environment thanks to that splash-screen -- I'd think it would be in DAZ's best interest to make it changeable.

I'd love to have a customizable splash screen too but this guy is just undead. If we go for classical sources, i.e. Dante's 'Inferno' for example, the Satan should be at least big enough to eat three dudes simultaneously, so our mister Undead here is too small for this and lacking two extra maws.

Actually, I've already requested a feature.

You can add your signature to it, for example.

There have been multiple threads all complaining about the new 4.6 splash screen. There is also at least one feature request logged in Mantis for an option to change the splash screen image since 4.6 was launched. This splash screen really seems to have caused a stir with the Studio userbase...

Zombies have feelings too. I'd love to change the image too though. It's not gorey enough for me. *grin*

I would just prefer an option to turn the splash screen off altogether, but then I've been wanting that since DS 2.

To me that image represents Beauty and the Beast scenario, and a caring one at that. To me Satan has horns and looks like a goat mixed with a bull. Infact Satan looks more like Beast from Beauty and the Beast from Disney, but nobody said a thing to them lol:)

Artistically it's a well put together image but I'm not clear on why we have a splash screen. All it does is slow down ds from loading for me. It would be nice to be able to switch it off.

It doesn't remind me of anything in particular, just not the kind of art I enjoy looking at, and I don't like looking at it every time the program starts up, if it was in a rotation with art it wouldn't be so bad but it won't stop my from using studio lol

No idea how it works on Macs, but on Windows the picture is embedded in DzCore.dll (DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\DzCore.dll). So if you still have the DS4.5 installer you can install that, copy its DzCore.dll file to somewhere safe, then reinstall DS4.6 and replace its DZCore file with the 4.5 version. You may lose some 4.6 features, though.

I have no intention to discredit the artist of the image but it is a satanic imagery, Satan, Devil or Demon.
And I feel imagery that is poster boy for a software should be as neutral as possible (no pornography-style, sexual, demonic, violent or blasphemic in its content).

    Amen

I like DAZ Studio's features. It's probably the best DAZ Studio Release and I hope DAZ Studio will continually progress.
But for the sake of taste, please add functionality to change or disable the splash screen.
Until such a release I will refrain from using DAZ Studio.

I have no problem with the splash screen and don't find it "Satan, Devil or Demon."

That being said, it would be nice to customize (or turn off) the splash screen at some point down the road.

Is the picture inserted into the dll-file? That would be the only reason you can't change the splash-screen. Otherwise you could create your own and copy-paste it into the appropriate place. On that note, I'd keep the splash-screen really simple, like in the previous versions.
Yes it is, and it's not a resource either.

The splash screen isn't slowing DS - it is, like most splash screens, shown to tell you that the application is loading and to provide a place for status messages to display (near the bottom, on the left).

The splash screen shows for a very short time (a few seconds) when I load DS. The status messages flash by very fast. Then the splash goes away and Studio sits there in "not responding" mode while it enumerates the content library on disc. You'd think that would be part of the startup and done in a more graceful way (e.g., background thread) so that Studio doesn't go "not responding"...

Please remember that discussion on religion is not permitted under the DAZ 3D TOS.

and yet on my aging PC that is on its last legs doesn't hang after the splash screen disappears. I fact 4.6 is so much faster when opening than before.

I would like to see something more in line with the general population,(yes young people too), like futuristic, a la star trek maybe. IMO.

That settles it. Since its an DO creation, they have a right to define what the creature represents. It may be horrific, but its a 3d figure designed and created purely from the mind of mortal incarnation. Its not an icon of worship or demonetization. Anything else just gives too much credence to the "object of your concern".

...at the very least, Vicky should be wearing something a little less "revealing". Makes it look like the cover of some trashy pulp fantasy novel. A variation of this also appears on the product page and the lower part of the Home page. Furthermore, both a fairly racy pic of Vicky5 and a violent scene (with blood splatter) appear as a slidewhow background in the "Products" tab.

Overall, I still think images that are a bit more sedate would project a more positive image, especially considering Daz's stance about being "family friendly" .

Yeah, I could care less for start up screens too since I dont feel they accomplish anything.

Have it your way, but DAZ can't have it both ways, as they contradict their own TOS and therefore my statement has merit.

Very simple, I don't use DAZ.
I use LightWave anyway and DAZ was just to write Renderman compliant shaders.
But that doesn't make me change my opinion about the splash screen.
The splash screen is just tasteless and blasphemic.

    bottom line:
I delete DAZ from my system.
