Flickr free accts now have 1 TB and Unlim Bandwidth

I'm not intending this as an 'ad', and I have zero affiliation with Flickr, but I know some people out there, like me, may be looking for alternative solutions of uploading photos other than Facebook and/or Deviantart.
Previously, Flickr had some rather narrow restrictions for free accounts, with expansion if you paid into a Pro account. They've changed things up and are now offering unlimited bandwidth, and 1 terrabyte of storage for free accounts.
Here's the list:
Free:
-1 Terabyte of photo and video storage
-Upload photos of up to 200MB per photo
-Upload 1080p HD videos of up to 1GB each
-Video playback of up to 3 minutes each
-Upload and download in full original quality
-Unlimited monthly bandwidth
Ad Free:
-$49.99 per year
-All the benefits of a free account
-No ads in your browsing experience
Doublr:
-$499.99 per year
-2 Terabytes of photo and video space
-All the benefits of a free account

They pretty much killed any reason to pay for a Pro account with this change.
I thought I'd read it wrong when I first saw it... why the heck would any sane person pay TEN TIMES the amount for only double the storage and no other benefits? This is madness...

Why would you move from Flickr? As a Pro member, you have the ability to continue at your current pricing and still retain all of your previous benefits, such as unlimited storage/bandwidth/ad-free/etc (whereas now, ad-free alone is twice the price as the previous pro membership). As a locked in pro member you actually have a better package than what is currently on the table.
These are your benefits if you stay grandfathered into your pro account:
Unlimited photo uploads (50MB per photo)
Unlimited video uploads (90 seconds max, 500MB per video)
The ability to show HD Video
Unlimited storage
Unlimited bandwidth
Archiving of high-resolution original images
The ability to replace a photo
Post any of your photos or videos in up to 60 group pools
View count and referrer statistics
Limitation of maximum image size available to others
Ad-free browsing and sharing

At some point Flickr had to go with the flow and upgrade, or get left behind in the dust of other photo hosting solutions. Everything moves with the times. Cell phone plans change, and so do web plans.
Look at what happened with Nik and Onone software. Google bought out Nik, previously sold at $500 for the full package, now for $149 (although upgrading owners for free/refunding excess cash if bought within the last 5 years), and now Onone software is offering current Nik/Onone owners a side-grade/upgrade for the same $149 price.
It's all about competition and staying ahead of the game. Welcome to the gas price wars of the interwebs.
Still doesn't explain why the expensive price plan only gives you double your storage. It'd be cheaper to just run two separate accounts and get the same storage and service at a fraction of the cost.
Presumably it's aimed at professional photographers, for whom having two accounts under different names would be a drawback (unless they worked in two separate fields and didn't cross-promote themselves).
