OK, playing with unreal development kit again,
no idea what I am doing!!
Carrara rigged characters import
with animation!
but how do you put them into a game???
I can get them into the Unreal AnimSet Editor but no idea where to go from there, the tutorials and web pages are confusing and assume you use 3dsMax or Maya and yes tell me how to get this far!

here is Andy's Kreature again, fully animated and his morphs import too!

    Cor Blimey wendy♥catz

Are you trying for a world record of the most times a character can be imported into different applications for animating Lol. Still knowledge is power, you must be starting to glow by now.

I chose to try out Andy's character because it looks better than my crappy Cqrrara rigged models :red:
but yes I am finding Carrara created stuff imports well into lots of programs (except Daz studio and Poser!!)
the C8.5 Beta FBX seems to be the key (except for Blender that has no FBX import but dae woked)
I like playing with stuff and the Apex cloth in UDK looks cool, one day hope to try it and Houdini's fluids but I am a bit dumb.

Well thanks to help on a software beta forum I cannot link to,
I got him in the scene animated!

Needs work but the beautiful environments will look great for animation with Daz figures too!
    now that Apex cloth!!!
    uhm maybe tomorrow!

must try a mimic speaking Daz model in there since morphs supported!
    and drats!
looking at the Apex cloth, it seems it needs to be created first in Max or Maya with the Nvidia plugin
Unreal will use the Nvidia cuda graphics to simulate it but I need the Max/Maya mesh.
dunno if one can buy cloth asset to dress your figures like we do Optitex cloth for studio
doubt very much Carrara softbody would work!
it is FBX imported with the figure if only one knew what geometry was needed.
someone with Max would need to FBX export their flag example and look at it in Carrara, they WOULD have to provide it in. MAX format!!!
WHY could they not have it in .FBX format for others to try!!
    at least in Unreal.
I found lots of unanswered posts on this subject, mainly from Blender users on their forum so did not care to add mine to the ignored list!
find one gets pretty much ignored there!
the 3posts I did make on installation issues were utterly ignored, my third post being to answer my own and umpteen other's question!!!

Yep, on forums like those you won't find a lot of help like you do on the smaller software forums and ones geared to hobbyists and semi-pros like here (not ignoring pros but there are more hobbyists and semi-pro folks here).

    yeah, Daz forumites rock!
I was amazed how many ask the same questions and no answer is EVER given!
I always search to see if there is an answer
my only query was that the download would not extract, was not compatible with my version of Windows. and so many had the same query.
    no helpful solution given.
I used the method suggested for corrupt compressed .car files from earlier versions of Carrara given on this forum btw!
rename the file extension from exe to zip and use 7zip to force extraction.
it worked, so I shared it!

    Hi Wendy :)

Very cool pics. ....and great info too.
It's a shame that the cloth is Max / Maya + Nvidia PhysX,. ..and that PhysX isn't part of Carrara's features. (since it's also free).

    ta
must create my own characters, then maybe can make a game!
    found this http://steam-punk-pirates-mod.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/TutorialCode/CustomChar/UT3SimpleRig.blend
a Blender rig that uses the game motions, I need an FBX for Carrara
oddly cannot find one and cannot export any of their skeletal meshes rigged or even a BVH!
will tackle Blender and export it if nessesary, they only have Max/Maya character templates grrrrr!
the Blender community soon made sure they made an alternative!

I found an FBX and the Carrara rig accepted the UDK animations but looked like crap all distorted!
I tried exporting a set from the game into Carrara
