Search feature in D/S4.5

Okay, I've installed 4.5 on the same computer as a fully loaded D/S3.
So far am very happy with its ability to locate and load the older content but I have a question with regards to the search feature.

Am I right in thinking that the search function is only searching through items for which we have put "tags" on them in the categorization, metadata making device?

    You or the supplied metadata, yes.

    You can also search by filename rather than database.

    [in this case, it would be me supplying the info as it's my own arrangement of the pre-4.0 days really old stuff]
