Sky Dome :-)

edited December 1969 in New Users

I quite like the idea of using a sky dome to help me with my renders in DAZ3D Studio 4.5. Can anybody reccomend something from the store that would help me achive and be fully compatible with version 4.5

Thanks :-)

Hello, I have had a great time with WorldBase Lushlands lately. I am a novice, however it is awesome.

I have used Cloud Nine for DAZ Studio (http://www.daz3d.com/cloud-nine-for-daz-studio). It is kind of expensive, but I bought it when it was one sale. It includes both a skydome and UE2 HDRI presets.

I have also used the free skydome by glaseye (http://www.sharecg.com/v/45996/favorite/11/Poser/SkyDome) in DAZ Studio 4.5. It is just a skydome. You have to figure out how to do the lighting yourself, but it works just fine. Glaseye has a number of expansion packs with more sky choices on Sharecg.

There's also a skydome included in this set...

The free Dystopia City Blocks come with a nice skydome with blue, cloudy, and night options: http://www.daz3d.com/dystopia-city-blocks-001-010-poser http://www.daz3d.com/dystopia-city-blocks-011-020-poser (edit: ah, mjc1016 beat me to it! :) )

Millennium Environment is ancient but still gets used quite a bit, I think, and it has a skydome too: http://www.daz3d.com/millennium-environment

I have WorldBase Lushlands too, but I haven't used it much yet. It does seem like a great product. I don't have Cloud Nine (yet) but I've heard many recommend it, so you probably can't go wrong with that either.

Thanks guys. I feel more confident in what I am buying now. I look forwards to using a skydome in my renders :-D

Well  making light sets is still on my to do list, both for poser and DS... Apart from the 2 sets released many months ago, no sets available yet..... So far my light presets are, well, made specific for my own renders and not ready for a more 'general' use. Making adequate HDRI-maps also proves to be 'challenging', but I did make a new start for more textures for the skydome, with light presets.....

I made some grassy and forest skyboxes & domes available here: http://farmpeeps.com/page118.html
Over the next few days some animated skyboxes are going up where you can see wind in trees, clouds and waves cycle. Perfect for games and 3d HTML5 webpages too.

I use the cloud nine set a lot, but also have my own lights designed, which can be worthwhile learning about. :)
