I render to avi uncompressed and edit in Windows live moviemaker
if it is a really poly heavy scene, I render to image file sequence and make it into an avi with virtualdub

lol! after about the 10th person has PM'd me about iClone or started another one after not finding this thread,
I suggested a sticky of subforum!
already almost off the first page in the commons with 2 views!
does Daz even want to sell their content to other software suite users I sometimes wonder?
I just enjoy using it all, not a paid salesperson so while I might answer questions etc if I see them
certainly am not searching the forum to help every person who asks if I happen to see a post!
    not my job.
    just want to do renders.

this is not a criticism to those who PM me btw, by all means still do
and I will probably point you to this thread so others can help as well as I am no expert, just a user.

unfortunately now my sticky/subforum request will prob get removed as a duplicate or bump instead of actually helping the issye.

I will just continue to point those who PM me to this thread for now (when I can find it!) as not a lot of interest has been shown.
on the Reallusion forum they infact have several stickies regarding Daz content and most ask there as I also usually suggest.
I was hoping a few more people had shown some interest before I approached mods about it.
asking for a Blender thread got no love so not holding much hope
(although iClone users DO buy Daz content!)

Hello I'm Robert. I have just bought iclone 5 Pipline and will be using it with Daz35, Carrara 8, Unity 3D Game Engine, and Blender. I have fallen in love with these iclone tools already.

Can anyone tell me which drivers I should install for using iclone Mocap with my Kinect sensor? I have found many useful tutorials but none so far menetion what drivers to install OpenNI or MS Kinect SDK.

    Thanks,

    Robert

sorry, can't help but if I add a link to ANOTHER ICLONE VIDEO I DID!!! today, it might keep the thread on the page long enough for someone else to see it.
I do LOTS of Daz content renders in iClone so can post LOTS links to new/different examples of my video art here if needed! %-P

Please look through the table at the end of the web page at:
    http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/iclone_mocap_features.aspx
Depends on which Kinect (for Xbox or for Windows) and which version of Windows you have, there are different options available.
Note that Kinect for Xbox can only be used for commercial usage, if OpenNI drivers are used.
If you wish to change drivers from OpenNI to Microsoft's then look at:
    http://faq.reallusion.com/index.php?action=article&cat_id=011001006002&id=493
General installation instructions are at "How do I set up mocap device and connect it to iClone5?"

Mocap is so much easier with iclone 5 than it is with other products i have demoed in the past. Iclone 5 pipline was very worth while investment for me and is great compliment to my Daz3D tools, Unity Game Engine, and Zbrush which I also have licences for.

I got the MoCap working with the OpenNI drivers. Thanks for the info posted earlier in this thread.

I already took my friends face and put it on a character and started making motion for the character tonight.

I included two links to what I did so far.

    I love Pipeline.

Thanks I will try it this weekend, I'm new to iclone and did not even know this existed for those figures.

While I do not have it, a lot of stuff for older figures is quite good and often cheaper than the newer items, these also come in various bundles that you can buy offered in newsletters from time to time.

Is there a way to convert a Daz3d or FBX character to iclone so that it is truly a iclone character that I can change the face on the same way I can on the iclone avatars?

When I use 3dxchange to bring in a character form those sources I can pose the character but can't take advantage of changing the face based on a photo.

no, you cannot even do facial animation on a Daz character at present.
You pretty much need 3ds Max and the template plugin to create standard iClone characters, there is a whitepaper on the rules that need to be adhered to for it to work, changing things too much on a pipeline exported character in Carrara for example will "break" it for iClone, I myself can only get Chuck and Gwynn back in complete with mesh added, not removed, and there are LOTS of issues.
infact the developers who use the Max plugin cannot usually create unique figures which work with the facial fitting.
the link to the whitepaper is somewhere on this thread, I posted it here earlier.

what you CAN do is export and create "morphed" versions of the existing mesh, even in 3dx5 not needing pipeline to replace mesh so long as you do not change vertice order.
This works best with Clone cloth figures, I use G2 & G3 clonecloth for it, you can in my case Carrara but also Hexagon, Zbrush, Blender etc whatever is your software of choice, move vertices to your hearts content, like people do who create Genesis morphs, just do not alter the vertex order.
you can create new bodyshapes, flare pants, lengthen tops etc, I showed some earlier on in this thread where I created a cowl neck on Jana's top.
reimporting and checking frequently needed to make sure iMotions do not distort mesh.

it is to do with the rigging

    http://developer.reallusion.com/whitepaper/g5_character/Standard_Character.html

    http://developer.reallusion.com/docs_ic.aspx

    http://developer.reallusion.com/whitepaper/g5_character/default.html

    http://developer.reallusion.com/whitepaper/g5_character/Exporting_with_Reallusion_3DsMax2010_Plug_in.html

I have tried with fbx exported iClone characters in Carrara just doing simple modifications, crashes 3dx5 pipeline mostly reimporting
have gotten Gwynn and Chuck back in with additional mesh attached and weightpainted but untexturable in iClone, not recognized even as skin, they can talk but serious issues with animation otherwise and faces wrongly textured and changing it crashes iClone, can still swap uppers and lowers, my added mesh stays conformed and unalterable but it is rigged changing heads crashes it.

don"t waste your time with dynamic cloth
no vertex animation in iClone even if you could get it to fbx export in one piece!

Thanks Wendy. With 3dsmax I only have student version amd they will want a percentage of my game sales. It is good to know I can do the things you listed with Carrara and Zbrush which I do own. I hope they improve in the future so i can make a iclone avatar form blender or Carrara.

    Thanks

rather pointless but I used the transfer tool to fit iClone Gwynn's hair and clothes to Genesis and facegen to morph her face.
I made her more feminine than Gwynn who is too skinny and manish.
my pants do not fit well though!
imported into iClone via 3dx5 for video with original

I downloaded the youtibe videos also. Thanks

Adobe is giving away the CS2 Suite for free. You should grab it while it last. If you get it , install Adobe premiere Setup as "Run as Administrator". I verified that that all components including Photoshop worked.

    Cool news everyone!!http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic145503-299-1.aspx?Update=1
iClone will become my main renderer of choice esp since I can now create Genesis clothing!!
and it just gets better, I can create and rig stuff in Carrara for it and use facial animation too it seems!!

3D universe's texture converter works on iClone avatar's faces and eyes via the texture tab using the second life plugin
    a silly video
for those interested in using their Daz textures on iClone avatars to pretty em up!
I bought TC converter to use legacy stuff with Genesis but when I found the secondlife option in iClone in the head editor texture editor had to try it.
a full body template would be more useful but at least one can do faces.
Just bringing in Genesis or other Daz figures probably a better option though!
it does help the iClone figures look less lowpoly though for closeups!

btw iClone and TC are for sale in the Daz store for those ready to comment on the new forum commercial post TOS!
just thought I'd get that in before some bright spark does!
