Fields, gardens, and orchards

I would like to do some farm renders and have not been able to find much in the way of crop plants for them. I decided to make this thread to see if anyone knew where I could find some of these plants and to request PA's to consider modeling some of them. I need them to work in Daz Studio and am willing to buy them if they are reasonably priced. So far I have found olive trees, cherry trees, sunflowers, and strawberries here at Daz. There is also an apple tree here at Daz, but it uses Poser 7 materials and only has textures for early summer. I found carrot, onion, and garlic models in the freepository - http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/272/

Field crops I would like include wheat, barley, millet, and rice. It would be great if each could go from seedling to immature crop to mature grain.

Just about any garden vegetables would be good. I am most interested in cabbage/lettuce, beans, peas, and tomatoes.

For the orchard, apple trees are the main one I want, but orange, lemon, apricot, peach, pear, and walnut would also interest me. Ideally I would like something like the Lisa's Botanicals Cherry Trees that use textures for the same tree at different times of the year (winter, spring blooming, green leaves, immature fruit, ripe fruit, autumn leaves).

Thanks. Most of the Xfrog plants here at Daz fall into one of three catagories: Bryce, billboard, or very expensive. At there website they have 31 free sample plants that not only include the cherry tomatoes but also a peach tree, breadfruit,, rosemary, and tea.

Sorry, sort of overlooked it was for DS only. But I've tested these two (don't have the other two) in DS 4.5 and they look pretty OK to me:

Taozen - that's not a problem, most Poser props either work in Daz Studio or can be converted. Besides, it woul be nice if this can be used as a reference for other people looking for these types of plants.

Kerya - the program you linked to looks interesting, and Hexagon will import the files it produces and export them as obj files.

By the way, if anyone knows of farm equipment, either horse drawn or that can be used with the Ford tractor for sale here at Daz, I would be very interested in them. I have found some:

    Tractor - http://www.daz3d.com/tractor-f9n http://www.daz3d.com/farm-gear http://www.daz3d.com/our-little-farm

    Horse drawn plow - http://www.sharecg.com/v/20509/browse/5/3D-Model/Free-Horse-drawn-plow

    Horse drawn rake - http://www.sharecg.com/v/20020/browse/5/3D-Model/Horse-drawn-rake

Search at CP on "farm", they have several items.

These are also included in the Horse 2 Pro bundle:

    https://www.daz3d.com/wagon-trail-2

Merlin has an apple and a cherry tree with fruits in this package:

and apple and cherry trees blooming in this package:

I just bought the "DAZ Dimension Lights 1" and ran a test on the apple and cherry trees:

Check out these 'Medieval Peasant Life' sets. The first one has cabbages in a field, the second pumpkins. Third on wheat. Lots of good stuff for on a farm.

Edited to add, these are Studio only. Which is why I forgot I had them--they were hidden in an old content directory and before Genesis I worked mainly out of runtimes. Just re-discovered them and everything works fine in Studio 4.5.

Spit, was looking at those links, I have iClone 3,4 &5 and 3dx5 pipeline and find a lot of iClone props are locked to iClone and cannot be exported.
Do you know which props are not included in the Daz version of the pack?

If you have an iPad, you could use the free treesketch (look at the link)
    http://www.cgchannel.com/2011/08/get-treesketch-2-0-cool-free-tree-generation-ipad-app/

And they export great and can be imported in HEX or used as IS. You can use textures from www.cgtextures.com to set new textures as the exports come UV mapped and ready.

Edit: added a render of a small heart shaped tree I did.

Everything that's listed is included in the Studio version.

It's a shame.  I went looking for these today in order to purchase them (they had been on my wishlist for several months), and these four items are no longer available anywhere on DAZ.  Now I wish I had purchased them when they were.  They really would have been a perfect edition to my final look.  I guess DAZ retires items after a while...  I'm newer here so maybe they are very old DAZ content, but it's really a loss that they are gone and gone.

  • Maybe this question/discussion has already surfaced before - and I actually tried seeking out the forums ala-Google search queue and also on the DAZ Forum site before posing this question.  Hopefully, I've posted in the correct area of the forum.

Anyway, there was a four part set on DAZ3D called: Medieval Peasant Life - which used to be located here:

    http://www.daz3d.com/medieval-peasant-life

    http://www.daz3d.com/medieval-peasant-life-vol-2

    http://www.daz3d.com/medieval-peasant-life-vol-3

    http://www.daz3d.com/medieval-peasant-life-vol-4

And are no longer anywhere on the site.  --> I've been trying to find them for two days now.  I found these links from another forum post here, and when I clicked on all four, these items are no longer found on the website.  So, obviously - DUH - they've been taken off.

What I was wondering was: "If DAZ removes/retires a product on their site, does it ever have a chance of returing to it again?  Will it pop-up somewhere else maybe, like on Renderosity, ContentParadise, or RuntimeDNA?  Or is it just gone and there is no chance of ever purchasing this item anywhere again?"

It's really a shame, because I'm relatively newer here, and I had all four items on my wishlist some months ago, but had to delay in order to get my characters together first.  If I had know that these four products were going to be removed from the site, then I would have bought them without delay.

Sadly, I have sought out the other content sites above, and ShareCG as well to find an equivalent to these products, but I haven't found anything remotely close to these four items.  I was kind of looking for a simple farm house with a pumpkin patch...  I found an image of it from the web [BELOW], and copied the URL so anyone might be able to identify and give me a heads up.   Any information regarding these products would be much appreciated.  If I can't buy them anymore, then I can't.  Just let me know either way, please, if removed DAZ vendor products ever become available again.

These are Reallusion items, Reallusion seem to have left the DAZ store though. You could ask them (they have a store at Rendo) if they're available elsewhere.

They are VERY low res, almost last millenium Game resolution. textures at 512x512 or 256x256, nothing you want to use today. But as you say, there might be something needed with modern resolutions, hmm, might think about doing something like that.

I suspect the issue is finding the growing plants. These days there isn't *that* much diffculty to finding okay to really nice models of fruit and vegetables. But finding them in their original state, before harvesting, is another matter. Even finding root vegetables with their tops still attached isn't as easy as it might be.

I fairly recently realized that no one appears to have any models of nuts out where I could find them. I've seen chesnuts (and the pan to roast them in over a fireplace) and I *think* I've seen peanuts in their shells -- although I'm not altogether sure of that. But a nice bowl of mixed nuts in their shells? Some shelled nuts for a cooking scene? I can't think of any.

Dexsoft-games has some vegetables on the plants over on Rendo. They're fairly recent, so the textures should be okay, but the modeling is low-poly.

Yeah, Taozen, I finally went on a massive Google Search for them last night and realized that Reallusion had created their own website with these items for sale here:

    https://www.reallusion.com/contentstore/csproduct.aspx?contentid=AIC310DIENU050120081204001

Although, I wouldn't really call it a 'sale' with their export content marked up to $239 USD for low pixel content....  yeah....

Don't get me wrong!  Their items are beautiful!  And I'm very sad to see their iClone animation content leave DAZ, since I had planned on animating things once I had collected all of the content that I needed... Still... their content is way past way my budget range - especially for export licenses.

As J0del said, I'll just look into Dexsoft games over at Renderosity - I've have a few medieval items placed on my wishlist there, including some content from Powerage and 1971s, who also makes simple medieval content that is very beautiful.

Alas, however I would have liked to have had that pumpkin patch.  It went perfect with my comic theme, but NOT $239 USD perfect.  Whatevs--

It is what it is.  frown

@Totte:  Low res is okay really. I'm making an anime comic using the PWToon shaders and some free content that I was directed towards on Share CG, so I don't really need to strive for realism at this time, but thank you for the information!
SIDE NOTE: My system configuration is still not on IRay par at this time for Reality DS anyway.  I'm still saving bit by bit for more RAM and a better vid card, but damn!  Those DAZ PA vendors always keep me adding new items to my wishlist day by day.

ANYWAY---- Thank you a million, everyone!  And also a HUGE thank you to Chohole for merging the threads.  I'm new to any forum ever, so I wasn't sure if one thread was too old, or closed, and whether I had posted in the correct place to begin with.

Merlin's Secret Garden is really lovely, and is currently only $10.17. http://www.daz3d.com/the-secret-garden-by-merlin

The only thing is that it all loads in as one scene. There is a ton of content in that scene, though. You'd have to separate out the items you want to use as sub-scenes to merge in or save them as individual props.

  • JOdelJOdel Posts: 6,250

I distinctly recall a pumpkin patch being in the Deep Freeze collection over on RDNA. Vines and pumpkins anyway. It's old, but it's all right. And you can always hide the pumpkins and use other gourds/squash models with it.

I'm also remembering Garee's Dead Corn bundle here, if anyone has a need for the field *after* the harvest.

You could PM them at Renderosity, they have moved some of the items they had here at DAZ over there, maybe you could get them to add the Medieval items to their Renderosity store also. Or maybe sell them to you in some other way. Couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Hmmm just had a look at it and it seems the Poser pp2 files are included as separate props but the Daz Studio files are not for some reason, so you were right first time.  Just ignore me, it's been one of those days lol

no worries, sometimes the Daz directory can be confusing to me. Some things are listed as props, come as architecture, some as enviroments.

I checked the Poser directory and there they are, should have looked there too.
