I use daz figures combined with my real life photos. Still a newbie in this, but I love the effect I get on the photos.
Normal photographing aint fun anymore :P

We have had to remove your link as the image was too gory for the forums, at least without content filters - if you wish you can upload it to a site such as Deviant Art that requires a log-in and preferences set to view flagged images and post a link to that version.

I too have tried this and find it fun. The first nine are the result of one shooting session done with an eye to creating such stuff.

It all started with an image I ran across that screamed for something like this:

Warning if you look at the rest of this ladies portfolio be prepared for some nudity.

Here is my first real rendering against a photo to match the 3D with the photo as closely as possible. Its a desert scene I made for a project and I couldn't do anything with e-on Vue so I just chose to use a photo as a backdrop. It turned out to be better than a rendered background using Bryce or Vue.

Good to see that it is more people here that does the same :)
When I was a kid, Jaws was a big mistake to see :P I had nightmares for several years.

Sooo I had to try a shark render :D

    http://studiohelgeland.com/news.php?extend.40

Wow, How did you do that shark image? That is really good. You must be a professional artist or something. I do photo backgrounds in my renderings because I am lazy, and it gives the image more realism at the same time. Here is one I did for a guy who's publishing his book called "The last spartan: DJ's Mission" He needed to visualize one of his characters in his novel and he says this rendering is exactly what he was imagining him to look like. (I used a photo as a background)

Tnx :) No, not an professional at all.. Spend a couple of hours a week editing photos only :)
I made the mountains/ship and the shark in daz/reality/luxrender. Then I tok a terrible photo of myself, and used rons waterline brushes to make the water :)
Quite easy actually, but I should have used a better model :P

My health aint the best anymore, so instead of taking photoshoots outside, I have a studioshoot once a month.
And I find studio backgrounds boring, so thats why I use renders in my photos :) Its much more interesting then one coloured backgrounds + I can adjust the lights of the background to match the model ( As I cant with normal photos added to background)

Cool caracter, looks like a real badass :D

Its rare to find anyone using Reality/Luxrender on this forum. I actually use it exclusively because I can never get the Daz Studio lightweight right. I still think your images are very professional, on par with stuff I see in magazines. I also use rons brushes a lot. I prefer gritty and manly faces, so you are the perfect "model" for the types of images you do (like the "sweating bullets" image in your gallery).

Here is another image I made using a photo background and shattered glass foreground, blurring the image a bit using Tiltshift, and using a photo filter to match the background color with the armor.

Biker Dad, photo of front yard with a motorcycle. Still don't own a real motorcycle model so I had to use a photo. Didn't turn out right so I had to blur the background a little. Considered my worst compositing.

Now I am working on a photo where I am going to edit an eagle in the hand of a girl..
And the plan is to have this in the background ( alittle Lord of the rings inspired )

Going to fix some cool clothes to the girl and the eagle she holds now :)

Cool, can't wait to see it!!!

daz studio ofcourse :) Tried poser one time and that was enough for me :P
Daz is much easier for a newbee like me :)

I was a poser guy until daz studio matured to what it is now. A maxed out daz studio pro with all the plugins can crush poser pro any day.

A quick video that shows how I edit my real photos with daz props.
(Not a tutorial, just to show how I do it)

Very interesting. What daz prop did you use for what the girl is standing on? Did you paint the background (looks like a hill or castle in the background).

http://studiohelgeland.com/news.php?extend.47 <--- What do you call a mix between pegasus and unicorn? A pegacorn or unisus? :P</div>
Neither. You call it a Winged Unicorn. Pegasus was the name of a particular winged white stallion, not the name of a species (except in Dungeons & Dragons, but they bastardized a lot of mythologies for monsters).
