Daz Studio 4.5 PMD injection?

The only plugin I can find for this is out of date for 4.5. Is there a script that works or anything? Perhaps someone could tell me how to do it manually, if it is not too difficult?

I thought I read somewhere that Studio could handle binary morphs natively now.

That has not been my experience thus far, unless I am doing it incorrectly.

I've had some success with getting PMDs to work, but it's been patchy in the past. I haven't done any sort of systematic check with 4.5, but I've just confirmed one of the items I fixed is still working - Dirty Eddy's Glock 21 from Rendo.

The fix was quite simple, change the command inside the PP2 or CR2 to load the PMD from morphPmdFile to morphBinaryFile

    So for the Glock
    morphPmdFile :Runtime:libraries:Props:DirtyEddysGlock21:V4GlockRThand.pmd
    became
    morphBinaryFile :Runtime:libraries:morphs:!Rendo Glock 21:V4 Glock Lefthand.pmd

(I took the opportunity to move the PMDs to a directory of their own so I can move the item folder around without things breaking - I do the same with all morphs)

What are the PMDs for? DS should be able to load them from characters and, I think, props but not from poses. However, the syntax has varied a lot over Poser updates and versions so there can be issues.

The Glock is a prop, I just checked another item I knew I'd applied the same fix to, but without success, which is also a prop, and still no joy in 4.5.

There is a plugin for DS3 that can load pmd injections but doesnt work in DS4(or not with the DS4.5 beta versions). You can however inject in DS3, then save the figure as daz file, open it with DS4 and use the figure in DS4 with the added morphs through the pmd.

The plugin is called Inject PMD.

PMDs in 4.5 is better than it was in 4.0, but it's still not anywhere close to 100%.

Some of the figure items I had with PMDs that did not work in 4.0 are working now in 4.5. The two problems I had in 4.0 (depending on content item) were:
    1) It wouldn't appear to link the morph controls to the actual morph data, so moving the slider in the Parameters tab did nothing
    2) PMD morphs would cause the item to explode (vertices going everywhere but where they should)

For figures, most of the stuff affected by problem 1 seem to be working now in 4.5 (e.g., some of the older stuff from 3D-Age over at Renderosity). For item 2, some of the items that used to cause explosion now work, but others do not and still explode (like Exnem's Armored Witch).

Every single PMD prop I have (fortunately not many) suffered from problem 1, so I don't know if any of them also suffered from problem 2. However, in 4.5, despite the one release note entry I saw that said they had 'fixed PMDs for props', all my PMD-based prop items are still exhibiting problem 1.

The PMD that I am trying to inject are facial poses for a figure

Any update on this? I have pmds as poses that I'd like to use in DS4.5.

There is a beta version of the InjectPMD plugin that does work in 4.x (mostly).

There is also a Java app that works nicely...

Keyra posted this in one of the other PMD threads.

    http://www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/poser/freebies/

And it does work, on Windows, Mac and even Linux.

How does this work? I'm having trouble figuring it out & I bet I'm doing something wrong. I have a character that the head morphs are pmd & I'm trying her with DS4.5

Which product and do you know which version of Poser generated the PMD's?

  • I have a Character called "rg Tea Character for V4" that would only work with the PMD Injector plugin, but I don´t know how to get this plugin or if it is compatible with the current version of Daz Studio.

Could anyone tell me if it is compatible and where to get it?

    Thanks

From what I recall, the pmd injector plugin hasnt' worked with DS for quite a few versions.

Looks like you changed right hand to left hand?

Yeah, the site is down but it can still be downloaded from:

    https://web.archive.org/web/20150402205051/http://www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/poser/freebies/

(though I couldn't get it to apply a pmd file meant for Sadie to Sam (so I ended up transfering the morphs with morph-follower for that).  InjectPMD was great - but I lost the plugin so even though I've still got DS3, I can't use it.

    OK, thanks!

There are links to several versions on google but I don't know if the version you're looking for is there (I imagine you have tried that anyway). Otherwise, according to DWG's post it looks fairly simple to write an app that can do it.
