Some of use Daz products in a work environment and having a rather large woman in an almost nude-colored bikini on the home page makes Daz3d.con NSFW!!!

Geez! If showing skin is that important to you, get a hotel room!

You know you can always bookmark a different page if it's a problem. Not that it's not offensive to some but it is a rather trivial complaint and to me doesn't warrant censorship.

hopefully you can find a workaround that suits your workplace.

It's not a censorship issue. I'm not asking that the image be suppressed.

That's a large woman, all right. Clearly she and I shop at the same plus-size outlets.

Maybe large-breasted was meant and a word got lost. :D

I knew going into this that it would become a flame war.

    That's OK, I'm fireproof.

This is a business issue I'm addressing - not censorship or feminism. I buy products for a company.

Most other 3d sites seem to be able to steer clear of the "hey, look at us, we're hobbiest soft-core pornographers" atmosphere (i.e turbosquid, 3docean, etc.

Indeed, Daz has done so also on their front page - up to this point.

Well, if they ever get around to releasing The Millennium Cow, that would dominate the entire site, home page too!

So howzabout it Daz? Get rid of all those yucky humans on the home page and put up some decent Cows!!

All in favor - say "MOOOOOO!"

Since getting into 3d I've noticed a tendency for scantily clad females with big boobies. Why there are no scantily clad men with big ... I guess all of Daz's customers and potential customers are people who pant after 3d women big boobies in bikini's.

I've taken to going into the forums instead, as you never know what you might find on the front page -some of us do visit this site at work and work would view this to be an inappropriate site because of that image.

The reason that happens is because there is a large silent majority of customers who want it - including professional customers, not just hobbyists. A look at advertising in general will indicate pretty clearly that the unclad or lightly clad human body is a common motif. I mostly (not entirely, but mostly) make outfits that are more fully-covering, but I also know that every one of those outfits provokes customer messages asking me how to make them look sexier on the figures.

If you were paying attention, though, there was a bare-chested guy on the front page as well, and DAZ sells a lot of male content that both covers and reveals the body. It's not really fair to say it's all bikini babes.

As pointed out earlier, if for some strange reason your company has issues with the image on the front page, even though they use DAZ products in the workplace, it takes a second to book mark a different page. I find it odd that in the first post the female was the issue not the guy also.

Yep, my company would view this as inappropriate also, oh wait, i am at work and shouldn't be surfing the web outside the company network in the first place, LOL.

“hey, look at us, we’re hobbiest soft-core pornographers”
seriously?! we must be looking at different pages since i see no soft-core or pornography.

I believe "large" was meant in terms of the amount of screen space she occupies.

He's less of a problem. I know it's a blatant double standard, but in terms of Safeness For Work, a naked-at-first-glance woman is more likely to get the boss asking awkward questions than a man in boxers.

I'm afraid he's got you big time there, nudity is nudity and man without a top on is more naked than a woman with a bikini top, like it or not LOL. Beside there is nothing wrong with nudity it's the mind behind the eyes that turns it into pornography. We'll see how long the truth lasts.

This look's like a temporary problem anyway, it's only up because of the DSON release and they will most likely change that when a new item needs to be peddled.

The OP should be patient and it will sort it self out.

It's a little egocentric to assume that a silent majority reflects your views isn't it? There seems to be an insult aimed at hobbyists in here somewhere. I think most professional customers will only buy what they need for their task, they're not going to be swayed by ooh shiny as much as the hobbyist.

Just because men like using scantily clad women in everything does not make it right. Sexualisation of women is well studied and discussed topic. Some 3d art seems to extend fetishisation of the female form to the nth degree. I wander into threads and stores and wonder if I haven't stumbled on a hentai site. In any case I can no longer look at certain sites or threads because of the NSFWness of the content.

I mostly (not entirely, but mostly) make outfits that are more fully-covering, but I also know that every one of those outfits provokes customer messages asking me how to make them look sexier on the figures.

I was paying attention. However I was distracted by great big boobies while I was looking to get off the splash page. I'm not sure what you're looking at but there is hardly any male content that reveals the body in the same fashion as women's clothing. We don't see men wearing battle armour that has bits cut out to reveal stomachs and wearing high heeled shoes.

No, actually, it's not. I've been selling clothes for DAZ figures for more than three years now. Things that are more revealing sell more copies, always, without exception. My experience is that they don't necessarily have to be female, though. My bestseller of all time is a set of four pairs of underwear for Michael 4.

Nor is an insult to hobbyists intended, I just frequently encounter the idea that it's the hobbyists doing all the pinup renders and no one else. While the educational customer doesn't want that, there are certainly others who make a living from their renders that do.

I agree that it happens. I agree that the lack of equality is not right. And I, incidentally, am female. But aesthetic use of the body is not invariably pornographic. Dove uses mostly naked women in ads that emphasize that women come in different shapes and sizes, and those ads are pitched to women. Athletic wear ads often feature mostly naked sweaty men, and those ads are pitched to men. These are the kind of applications I would hope to see my underwear and other nudity-friendly products used for. I know they also get used for woman-hating porn, but I can't help that.

Dark Priest? The Faerie set with the tight shorts? Dragonlord (oh look, a big chunk of the right side is missing over the chest)? Jepe's Body Jewels? There's an entire huge bundle of M5 armors that are completely eye candy. Our usual depiction of male sexuality in "armor" is more aggressive and less colorful than our depiction of female, and I think that's unfortunate, but it's not as if it's not there. (*Cough* And it's not as if I don't own most if these. The body jewels are super cute.)

Seeing "a rather large woman in an almost nude-colored bikini on the home page" in your work environment isn't DAZ's fault, it's YOURS. Bookmark the Shop page instead of the Home page. Problem fixed. Non issue.

Obviously you live in a very cold climate where people don't wear bathing suits. ;-)

I think the bikini color choice was unfortunate, given the size of the image and it's placement on the front page. I note that the guy is wearing shorts in a color that contrasts with his skin.

That said, I very rarely go to the front page of the store, because there's not usually anything there I want to see. I have the "New Releases" page bookmarked. But I did happen to land on the front page recently while at work. I work for a college and we use DS to generate some website illustrations. (Someday I should post those pictures of brains with the Emotiguy sneakers and hard hats....) anyhow, when I landed on the home page, I did click off it in a hurry. I didn't want to have to explain why the site I've recommended we use to generate pictures of college students in classes has a picture of a woman in a flesh-colored bikini and makeup on the front page. 8-/

I agree with JeffG. The home page image needs to be replaced even though it's a beautiful render of two great characters. In my opinion it does not give a very good first impression to ALL visitors therefore doesn't belong on the front page. Furthermore, I find it very slow to load and takes longer to click off of it.

Well, where I live the temperature is currently not very bathing-friendly. I don´t know about Utah where DAZ resides, but here Vicky would have to wear long trousers and a pullover at least, she would not dare out in just a bathing suit in fear of catching serious cold. %-P

I admit, I also landed on front page while being at work - and due to my computer screen resolution the image of Mike and Vicky was really BIG. Not to mention that in the skin-coloured bathing suit Vicky looks like she is nude at first sight. And Mike does not wear much either. I was SO lucky my boss or colleagues did not see it, they would think I am looking at porn pages... :red:

I teasingly complained when the new homepage went up not because of the skin colored swimsuit Vicky is wearing, but because Mike has some notable nipples.

But at the same time I'm glad they haven't got all scared and took it away. What I do want them to get rid of is the intro flash, that was my main complaint. I should not have to skip the intro 5 times a day. and for those saying you can set a different page as your default that doesn't help me because I need to log into the store to log into the forums and everytime I do it sends me back to the homepage where I need to skip the intro.
