Runtime DNA content migration and download

Many of you have asked, with Runtime DNA becoming a part of Daz, what about past purchases with Runtime DNA.

  • As we have said, nearly all of the content will be migrating over to the Daz store.
  • As products are migrated to Daz, they will no longer be for sale at Runtime DNA.  We would envision that within a few months there will no longer be any products sold through Runtime DNA.
  • To make sure your downloads migrate to your account here, change your Runtime DNA email address to match your Daz one.  Then as product migrate they will just show up in your account (including free items, gifts, etc.)
    • If you have more than one account on either side, please open a ticket with Daz support to help you merge them.

Some have asked how long items will be available for download at Runtime DNA, and what will happen with items not migrated to Daz for purchase.

  • As to if non-migrated content will be available to download through Daz3D.com, we don't know the answer to that for sure yet, but in all likelihood, no, they won't.

In order to avoid this becoming a problem for those that may own content that does not migrate (which should be a very small list, but we'll have clearer insight on that exact list soon), We're pleased to let you know that downloads of previously purchased items at Runtime DNA, however, will continue to be downloadable from there until the end of 2016.

Thank you. Archiving those till end of year is very fair

  • Good to know. Thanks Daz_Steve for clarifying the situation.

and because I keep seeing this asked over at RDNA, and I figure you'd have a proper answer: Is DAZ going to accept V4 products (both existing and new ones from RDNA artists) that meet their standards? (The implication I see in the questions I've read has been that DAZ auto-rejects non Genesis product, which doesn't fit with my experience but I figure a quotable answer might ease some concerns.)

I can answer that one   LLF has already posted elsewhere that she is currently finishing an M4 Poser item which will be coming over here, so that is a good indicator.

And having answered that.  Please can you all now  try to keep this thread on topic.

Although there are some figures we are still working out detaisl and answers to, I can tell you that the answer to V4/M4 is definitely yes.  They will move, and we will accept new ones.

    Greetings,

Can I ask about RTEncoded content?  How does downloading that content work in the world of DAZ Install Manager and/or Connect?

Thanks for that, I figured as much but the person I was trying to reassure wanted something from a primary source. :)

Looking forward to that list, figure I'm waiting to download till the panic dies down anyhow, but I see little point in making a special RDNA backup of content I'll just be able to get here, so knowing what I'm absolutely going to need a copy of will help reduce my impact on the server.

    We're working on that... :)

Initially they will likely be in the same formats as they are currently on DNA, but we plan to convert them to support DIM and Connect as quickl;y as possible.  And, to head off the question: When I say "Connect", please know that none of the migrated/converted content will be encrypted.

How soon can we expect things to start showing up in our account? I noticed some items I purchased at RDNA already in the Daz store, but unavailable in my library. I know the purchase was already recognized as I had gotten a "thank you" store credit here for purchasing it there.

Does that mean support might be able to merge two Daz accounts as well (course owned by a single person) ?

Yes, I'm confident we can help with that.

    Thank you.

Having more than one account doesn't seem to be a good idea anymore, especially not with connect, so I will contact support for details (PC+, serials, order history, etc). Though I might be waiting another 2 months or so, as they are probably swamped by requests on recent changes and march madness starting soon, and mine is not really urgent.

    Quote removed.

Aeon Soul is a vendor here already, so I don't think they'd forbid moving over purchase history of their products. They're just not selling those items anymore.

  • For expediancy

IF some of the stuff from DNA has nudity or such...cover the bits with a DAZ logo or something

We will get over it :-P

Would have to be a 3D Daz logo, rendered in,  not one that was applied afterwards.

Or the vendors could move the nude renders over to a site where they are allowed, or users that wanted to see how skins looked could message them privately for such things; any number of ways to deal with that non-issue.

OT but, I get the reasoning, but never understood why 3D and not an overlay in say Photoshop. Just curious why one is ok, but not the other. o_O

Only way you can link nudity is if the site has age restriction and lock to outside underage users so they can't see it. As Cho said to cover you would have to have Daz 3D as a model to make it acceptable. Review the nudity rules. No 2D bars or other shapes to cover.

Is there any way we can get an explanation of the reason why? Not being antagonistic, it just doesn't make any sense.

Well, no, I GET why no nudes, what I don't get is 'it has to be covered in render and not in post.'

Rendering a black box hovering in front of a character is ... the same as adding a black box.

    So... um.

Although I'm amused by 'Mormon porn.' Which consists of taking photos of clothed people and cutting holes in them to be suggestively censored.

I would say that carefully placed items rendered in front of a supposedly nude figure is artistic. A smiley face photoshopped over someone's hoo-hah isn't.

    As frogimus said

the advice on nudity in the forums does say

there must be opaque clothing of some kind over the area, or it must be screened by solid scenery and props in the scene: bars, emoticons, chickens and cats that are extraneous to the image aren't enough (and frequently look silly, even where the image is otherwise serious)

The reference to chickens and cats was due to one person who thought it funny to use little buetit birds, cats and cockerels to cover the relevant parts.

Because adding bars etc. afterwards looks tawdry and makes the image seem dirty even if it isn't.

If something were artistically added in post, that would be ok?

Like fog or a wall or whatever?

What if the 2d overlay is considered part of the flow of the artwork? Say something like this: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Inhale-189600116 or http://www.deviantart.com/art/Fire-PSD-99025165

These aren't mine, but imagine the figure as a 3d render and the rest as postwork.

(feel free to split the convo to its own thread if need be)

Well because it's their business. It's not like if you can leave Google Strict Filter off and search very innocently for lots and lots of things and not get a flood of results by publicity seekers using pornography or gore and violence to try and make money. They decided as a business the capabilities of their product should be what gets your attention when you shop in their store. Although I think someone will come and delete this post for saying my opinion as moralizing. Sorry. And it is off topic after all.

We're not asking why nudity is unacceptable, we understand why it's not. We're getting clarification on the types of methods allowed to obscure the nudity.

I think basically keep it tasteful and in the vein of the image that your presenting.
