Tattoo Question

I am running into an issue with characters taking over 12 hours optimize and render for some. The one’s I am seeing this with are the characters that have a second layer on them containing tattoos I’m pretty sure it’s the tattoo that is causing the issue but even after I remove them the render takes the same amount of time I have to delete the scene and start from scratch. Anyone know a good way to add tattoos to an image in 4.5 without having to use Photoshop or something else after?

You can add it to a skin texture map in Photoshop first before renfering.

This is from the old site http://forumarchive.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=113201&highlight;= and will need this info (taken from http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/306/ )

These links will still point to the old site even though images are not (yet) viewable there. If you need to view a specific image (and you likely will) you'll need to change the

    to read
    http://forumarchive.daz3d.com/postimages/origimage_1_3096345.png
and then past that new URL in a new window/tab of your browser (obviously substituting the appropriate image name).

My point behind this question is how to do it with out using programs like Photoshop I don't want to spend that kind of cash.

GIMP (from gimp.org) has many of the functions of Photoshop and is free.

I use it often along with DecalMaster (not free) to add tattoos to character textures.

However, if your renders are taking 12 hours you may have some other serious problems.

Sorry yes I should have said Photoshop, GIMP or any other image manipulation software out there, my bad.

For DS, I find that modifying copy of texture is easiest. For this render, I just picked some tattoo flashes and applied them to a layered texture file. Since tatts were on white background, I use multiply option to drop out background. When satisfied, just save out new texture and apply to Genesis figure. This one rendered in less than 3 minutes

A couple of quick questions...what image format are the tats in?

How are they being applied (LIE or US2 or some other way)?

    Shadow type?

I've been wondering how to do this myself. I don't have Photoshop (wish I did) I have gimp 2.8. Is there a walkthrough anywhere on how to add tattoos through GIMP?
