OT: AMD Ryzen 8-core/16-thread CPU ready for pre-order at half the price of Intel

A big day for the PC industry today and officially on 2nd March, the AMD Ryzen 8-core CPU's are officially presented today, ready for pre-order now and delivery on 2nd March.
After 10 years of quad cores for <1000$/CPU due to Intel monopoly, AMD is finally back with AMD Ryzen 7 series (1700/1700X/1800X) for 300-500$ that beats the >1000$ Intel Core i7 6900k in Cinebench R15, the benchmark most similar to Carrara.
Finally!!!

Intel quad cores score 800-900 so a nice speed up of twice as fast for the same money.
Or less than half the price for the same speed, since Intel sells its expensive mainboards only with their 6 and 8-core CPU's...
All AMD Ryzen 7 CPU's can be overclocked, so there is even more speed available since they are rated for 95W while Intel is running 140W, but we need to wait for some official reviews on 2nd march to see exactly how much more.

Shame it's windoze 10 only. I have just priced out a new system before the company I use to build my PCs stop offering Win7.
I hear that. Although I'm finding that I like Windows 10 more and more as time goes on. But for my Carrara workstation, I really enjoy Windows 7 64 bit.
I'm still planning on grabbing a refurbished HP Z600 or Z800 (or 602 or 802, etc.,) with the dual six-core xeons, and Windows 7 Pro. Some are now coming with Windows 10, so I have to make sure before buying. 24 render threads will be fast enough for me for a long time, if not forever! LOL

Windows 7 and 8 can still be upgraded to Windows 10 for free.
Carrara works in Win 10 and 10 will get updates for many more years than 7, there are many new functions in 10 and soon we will get MS Paint in 3D,,,

Wow... I love my AMD cpu that I bought back in 2012, and is no longer available
AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 8-Core 3.1 GHz Socket AM3+ 125W and that's back when 32nm cpu were brand new tech. This new Ryzen is 14nm!!!! Yikes! That's some tiny microprocessing!
A single cpu solution which can deliver the power of 16 threads... and it looks like we'll be able to build a new machine for not much more than a song and a dance!
