The Food Appreciation-thread

A while ago, I discovered something new in the store. Some snack called Mini Grissini, and I bought some packs of it. A month later, and the store is all out. They didn't seem to get the point, "Get some more..Plz...". <*sigh*>

Anyway, post your appreciation for something you like.

Hmmm, one example, I like pizza with bacon, mozarella and oregano. Another thing I've noticed, and that's how fast everybody else seems to eat. When I'm half done, most seems to finish. Don't they appreciate food? When I eat, I savour the taste. The better it tastes, the more time I spend savouring the food. So logically people seems to really dislike what they put into their mouths, or they have this illusion that if they don't get this done now, the world will go down in flames.

Another example, waaay back in '96, my fellow coworkers and me went to Paris on a trip. On Notre Dame, there was this restaurante that served heavenly stuff. When I think of it now, my mouth starts to water...

So to fellow appreciators, bon appétit. :)

    I would have to agree. When I was in USMC Boot Camp there were times I had less than 60 seconds to finish a meal and let me tell you, you would be amazed how much a person can eat in that time period when you're hungry.


    My first meal at home after boot camp took me well over an hour to eat because I savored every bite and to this day, unless of course there is a pressing matter or it just tastes like crap, I take my time and enjoy the food I am eating.

    Italian, French or Texas-size (big horn steaks) are on my top-list.

    Gyros. I'm Greek and very picky as to how they're made.
    True story- My mom takes me to this place back in Phoenix saying her sister said it was a great place and the Gyros were fantabulous. What happens? I get there, I order one, and instantly notice that the meat has this bologna look to it. That smooth rounded pre-sliced look. I explained to my mom that it is not a good Gyro and that it is what Taco Bell does to Mexican food and to stay away from any further recommendations by her sister because she wouldn't know good food if she was slapped in the face with it (which I probably should've done LOL).

    Tzatziki sauce (Greek style cucumber dill sauce)- I can damn near drink a well made batch. I really should go yell at the Indian place down the road who puts dill relish in it. /shudder

    Also, the Caramello chocolates. Those things are heavenly.

    Filet Mignon made at a local Japanese steakhouse. Oh.. my.. god.. at medium rare those things melt like butter. Their "Yum Yum" sauce is also drinkable. :P

    Love Italian (Manicotti...yumm yumm), but the wife and I just love Mexican food. We eat Mexican it seems every other day.


    Of course you are right about steak, especially a tender Fillet from Texas Road House and their cinnamon butter for the hot rolls.


    I am also Partial to fried foods like Chicken Fried Chicken, garlic potatoes and creamy white gravy.


    Or how about a Roast with potatoes and carrots.


    Holy crap, I'm gettin' hungry!!!!

    Nope, no substitute. Improper Greek food is just blasphemy. LOL

    And sure looks like King Crab. The thorns on those things hurt like a mother..

    yep, King crab and yabbies on my Birthday, wanted Crayfish (Rock lobster) but this was cheaper and I could pig out!

    no yabbies, only little, fresh water, kinda like a mini lobster but sweeter more like crab

    Ah.. looking at them they're what we call Crayfish. I haven't tried eating those yet. I love seafood, but my hubby doesn't so I tend to try new things when our ex-chef buddy is around since he'll eat anything. lol

    I used to live in Australia. While I was there I absolutely fell in love with Australian meat pies. You can't get them here in the states, so I have been craving them ever since. I really need to learn to make my own. I often miss my time in Australia, i've been thinking about making me a good Aussie burger with lamingtons for dessert

    I work in a bakery been there 28years and pack meat pies every day and can eat the reject ones from the pie warmer in the canteen
    not what comes to mind as MY favourite food! LOL!

    When my eldest was small. Mum took them down to the creek and caught some as they only had two she put them in the fish tank only to discover one was pregnant and ended up with hundreds of tiny yabbies which the femal then ate. lol

    I ate a whole family sized block of Cadburys Macadamia nut chocolate the other day, resisting the urge to drive down to servo and buy one now!
