After the disaster it was obvious from the outset that rebuilding a technological society could only be achieved slowly, utilizing materials that could be worked easily, such as wood (readily worked with the simplest of tools), copper and brass--both malleable metals that can be worked and shaped cold. The new technology was, in fact, that of an earlier time, when gentlemen inventors produced the designs in their libraries and the artisans gave these designs shape and form in their small workshops. It was important then and now that these machines be simple, reliable and easily repaired by the customer.
The Little Gem is a two cylinder 4kva generator that will run without modification on the hydrogen/methane output of the Biogas Converter. The drive shaft has an output pulley to directly drive a range of ancillary equipment such as lathes, grindstones, water/air pumps etc. It can supply lighting for a small community or, by using a bank of lead/acid cells, supply heavier current devices.
